Thank you all for your replies. It seems that what you are saying tinitus is all the time not just in my house. My son still can not hear what I am hearing. I do not know what to do since I was told if the technicians can't hear the noise they do not what to do either. If that is the case I just have to hold onto my sanity. Thanks again for your input.

@halfpint1

Only the person with the hearing problem (tinnitus) can hear the noise.  If your son doesn't have tinnitus, he can't hear the noise that you are hearing.  Please see a hearing specialist.

I only hear it at my house day or night. I wish I knew if a motor runs even when off like a fridge. The ac people don't want to bother with me because they don't hear anything. The company that sold us the ac hung up on me the last time I called since they don't hear noise. Today the noise is running most of the day.

I can relate and you have my sympathy.  DH and I both have hearing problems and ringing.  The OTC supliment did not work for either of us.  Mine got so bad a few years ago when I had a nerve damaged in my face by a dentist that we moved our fridg to the garage because when it ran it made my pain worce.

If you can find what is causing this in your house and get rid of it that would solve your problem.  I agree with the OP's, have someone with really good hearing stay over and try to track it down.  You could also get a small room clean air machine if a fan would bother you.  They make white noise and mask what your hearing.  Good luck!!!

I have heard some medicines can also do this to you. Are you taking medicine near the time you hear the noises?
