@Shelbelle  my dry eye is so bad that tears would run down my checks.  It got rather embarrassing when I was out because strangers thought I was crying.  My eye doctor just kept pushing OTC artificial tears which never worked. Finally, after telling him that it was effecting my quality of life, he caved and wrote the prescription.

@brandiwine.  My eye doctor told me my dry eye was due to age...I will be 70 this summer...I have been bothered by the condition for several years.

I am going to take a look at the drops the other poster mentioned that she purchased on Amazon.

I use an electric heated eye mask daily. That helps stimulate and soften the oil produced by the meibomian oil glands in the eyelids (top and bottom) where aging normally causes them to dysfunction. The heated eye mask is similar to using a warm compress except it stays warm longer which, for me, is more effective.

Tupe, thanks such reasonable, helpful advice.  You guys are honest and at times more useful info than the Dr, thanks

I use restasis and Refresh drops several times daily.  But a lot of my dryness is due to the medication I take for hyperhidrosis.  So it's a constant battle for me.

If my dog doesn't like you, neither do I.

@Jk9 I am also now starting to use Restasis. In addition, I use Systane Ultra Perservative Free. My glaucoma drops is a culprit for my dry eye. I tried Refresh PF but it didn't help at all.  It's a never ending battle for sure

@Mom2Dogs :  I also use Ivizia after a recommendation from the top surgeon who did my cataract surgery.
