Anyone use these?  I went to my eye doctor on Thursday.  Well, my doctor actually retired recently so I saw her son for the first time.  He was nice, but I felt like I was at the car dealership with all the upsells.

He was full of all sorts of ideas I could spend my money on, including Xiidra and eye lid scrub things.  I used to use the scrub years ago so I was fine with that but, of course, he wanted me to try a new kind instead of the tried and true, easy to find kind.

Anyway, he prescribed Xiidra eye drops and today was my first day.  So far, I'm not a fan.  This morning's drop blurred my vision I thought for far too long and I just did the nighttime drop and here we go again.  And, I can taste it.

I used Restasis years ago for several years and I think I remember being able to taste that also.  Restasis was an absolute waste of time and money. It did nothing.

So I agreed to Xiidra until I go back for a recheck on May 11th.  I'm trying to be open minded, but I'm not expecting much.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

I have been using these drops for 2 months.  I was told they could take 3 months to work. I think I am beginning to feel a slight difference.  Yes, the blurred vision is annoying but it does go away.  I don't notice a taste from them.

3 months to work.  Thanks for telling me.  The blurry vision is a pain.  Lasts far too long.

I have dry eyes & my eye doctor told me not to waste my money on expensive prescription eye drops. She told me to try Systane Ultra eye drops, available over the counter.  She advised me to use 2 drops 4 times a day. It's been about 18 months. It's helped me a lot.I'm not saying it will work for everybody but it works for me.

@NicksmomESQ  thanks for the info on the Systane Ultra. This bluriness is ridiculous.

I had been using Systane Ultra 4 times a day or more. Relief was temporary.

PATADAY.  Has anyone tried that?  I take heavy-duty prescription eye drops for glaucoma treatment and the drops irritate my eyes.  So, I can buy PATADAY withour a prescription now.  It is very soothing.  Try PATADAY if you want to try something different that is over-the-counter.

I have very bad dry eye syndrome.   I developed it when I hit menopause.

I tried Restasis for awhile but it really didn't help a lot.  I couldn't even wear my contacts anymore because my eyes were so dry.

My new eye doc at the time (4 years ago) told me about Xiidra.  I tried them and at first they made my eyes sting and I had a slight taste after putting them in, but within a month, my eyes were 95% better.   So much better I can now wear contacts again!

I love Xiidra and am glad they are now covered on my medical plan at work.  I still use Systane preservative free drops when needed, but it's rare.  I usually use drops after removing my contacts.

I can't say enough about Xiidra.  It changed my life.  I hope you will try it for a while and see if it works.  After a while, there is no stinging or aftertaste.

Good luck.   Dry eyes can be awful, as I know.

Re: Xiidra eye drops

I have dry eyes and used the Restasis for a few years but I quit using it as it didn't help much. Now I use ointment in my eyes at night and it's helped tremendously. It's an OTC product, comes in different brands; They are all the same. I used to get a Target store brand but that hasn't been available lately.

I currently use Systane Nighttime Lubricant Ointment.  A tiny tube lasts a long time. Just a small amount in each eye.  It does make vision blurry and eyes are a bit greasy/oily in the morning.
