Re: Welcome to the October Exercise Thread

@bopper  They are yellow hued sheets!  I agree.  I washed them since I changed to my polar fleece last night and they came out beautiful as always.  Taking them off was a bit of a chore though with those new straps.  Forgot the new ones had that.

We finally found Fall in the South!  We had a bad wind/rain storm come through over the weekend so it was an inside weekend.  Glad I did all my running around Friday night after work.  We actually went into the 30s last night.  Coldest since March they said.

We will be warming back into the 60s and 70s though so it will be fleeting.

Have a great Monday!

Re: Welcome to the October Exercise Thread

Morning,

Laura I can't figure out how to even use the straps!   I just put them on like regular fitted sheets.  How does that strap work?   Thank you regarding the yellow hued....They sure are comfortable and I have a velvet loft blanket on top so it's quite cozy.

We're under a winter weather advisory for tomorrow, poor Halloween kids.   But this time of year we never quite know what to expect.

Heading to the treadmill in a bit here, having a hard time getting out of the chair this morning hahaha.....but mind over matter.........oh wait my mind is saying stay in the chair  LOL........

What a baseball game last night, and I couldn't stay up that late but saw who won and I'm glad!   This has to be one of the best World Series ever!

Have a great day everyone!

Re: Welcome to the October Exercise Thread

@bopper  I just put the strap underneath with the rest of it.  I never had an issue with the sheets coming off but I've heard others do.  You and I must have the same beds.  I have my sheets and a blanket on top and then my comforter just like you do.  It's warm!

Re: Welcome to the October Exercise Thread

Good morning, all!  Well, we are having freezing rain and our high today is supposed to be 30 something, which we already hit.  Yesterday was 70 something and I had all the windows open.

So I have to tell you something that's kind of embarassing and a lot painful.  I went to the little gym--if you can call it that--on Saturday to talk to them about doing La Blast.  I did their ab workout because Saturday is Ab day.  It was actually pretty hard and I had fun.  Until my bum started hurting later in the day.  I kind of ignored it, but Sunday morning--it was REALLY bad.  As best I could, I looked in the mirror and I had a huge raw spot at the top of my crack (in between).  I'm sure it is where my underwear were rubbing me during the workout since it was all floor work and they had really thin mats (like yoga mats).  I'm still hurting this morning. It's awful!

The bright spot is that I start teaching Zumba and La Blast on Thursday nights for their ladies night.  Their Zumba instructor left because they can't pay them and I will do it just to get practice in front of real students.  Eventually, hopefully they can pay me a little bit.  I will alternate formats each week, so I am pretty excited.  My first class is this week.  Hopefully, my bum is healed up by then.  I hope Quick Fit has NO floor work today because I'm not sure I can do that.

I hope you all have a wonderful day! (Ps--I am not a Halloween lover--I don't even turn my light on because of the dogs.  My front walk is WAY too dark for them to even see if I'm home).

Re: Welcome to the October Exercise Thread

@DrKelli  OW!   That reminds me when I first took up kick boxing back in the day.  I took off my socks after class to shower and the tops of my feet were bloody from hitting the bag with my kicks.

Between suffering through our workouts, dodging IPhones so we don't end up on social media without consent, and being entertained by Mrs. Rudeness and Mr. Tool, the gyms should pay us to belong at least one month out of the year!

Re: Welcome to the October Exercise Thread

Good morning, everyone.  Extremely strong winds here last night!

@DrKelli, now that's a strange place for an injury, lol.  The good thing is being at the top of your rear, it didn't interfere with your sitting.

Body & Sculpt, Flexibility and Zumba on tap for this morning.  Enjoy your day folks.

(Am I the only one having problems logging in?  It's going on about a week now).

Re: Welcome to the October Exercise Thread

It's gym day!   Get the coffee ready! Smiley Very Happy

So I walk into Pound and start setting up.  I notice my one friend who is still sane like me is not there and she always beats me. I start to tear up a little.  I'm not sure I can do the gym alone anymore.Smiley Sad

Not to fear!  She comes walking in dressed as Run DMC.  I lost it!  She started jumping up and down because I actually knew who she was.  It's tough when your instructor is a child of the 90s and we were born a decade earlier and grew up with the birth of rap and KrushGroove.

She had the whole thing down with the black addidas jumpsuit and striped kicks and gold chains.  Even the hat was on point. The instructor comes in and starts literally chasing people down to take a picture with her.  Everyone is screaming "It's 5am!  No pics!"

I took a pic with my friend since I thought the costume was so great.  I am now consentually on the gym's FB and IG I am sure with no make up and a ponytail at 5am.  At least she can't tag me.

The teacher puts on Walk this Way which was Run DMCs duet with Aerosmith.  Nice but it's not really their song.  We told her one of the songs she does for Pound is actually a Run DMC song.  She was clueless.  It's a shame.  The 80s were classic!

So we start class and we were promised Thriller.  Halfway through one of the girls asked when it's Thriller time.  She said she didn't put it in and maybe next week.

Say what?

Halloween is today!  There is no Thriller November 7th!  October 31st!  You have had a whole year knowing it's coming.  And you promise us Thriller and we have no Thriller on Halloween day?  MJ is spinning in his grave and will probably haunt you tonight.    Smiley Sad

There was also a couple doing Pound for the first time.  OMG.  The guy had zero rhythm.  I mean he couldn't even do the side to side hit the sticks left to right.  It was a comedy routine in and of itself.  I know not everyone gets the choreography down the first time but basic step left step right makes me wonder how he learned to walk.  It was like Elaine dancing on Seinfeld only the guy version.

So I finish Pound and then it's Power time.  At the last minute, Mrs. Rudeness comes in and decides to go way in the back and set up in front of me even though there is tons of space in the middle.  Smiley Frustrated   She decides to crowd me and this other couple in front.  Great.  I get two for the price of one entertainment.

So the warmup comes on and I wait for the Jackie Chan moves.  She disappoints me and doesn't really do them.  Awwwwww.

But wait!  Apparently, she just needed to warm up.

We come to the end of class and we have the same move in the legs track.  She breaks it out!  Right in my face too!  I literally had to turn away and do something else or I was going to lose it and laugh in her face.  I mean it was HI YA! in my face over and over again at 6:15am.   I almost want to Karate Kid her and then they could have put that on FB too.

Ah yes.  Halloween at the gym and now I have all day work and parents in town and candy giving tonight.  Pray for me and have a great Tuesday!

Re: Welcome to the October Exercise Thread

Good Morning, it's all snowy here this morning, the power already went out.  It's wet heavy on the lines.  It's quite beautiful though and I'm glad today I don't have to drive anywhere.  Tomorrow morning I have to get groceries and have an appointment so I hope I don't have trouble.  My car is old 1997, yes it's old and I worry about sliding on the highway.  That's what bothers me the most about winter is driving the highway to get to the grocery store but it is what it is.

We have our tickets booked to CO to see my new grandbaby.  Going the 2nd week of December for 6 days, well 4 days there and 2 are travel days.   Yes I'm already nervous I admit it, and anxious about flying.  Very very fearful and I do have something the dr. gave me but I'm weird about taking it and when I did I didn't notice it did much to be perfectly honest.  My son doesn't seem to understand my fear and he tells me I'm talking myself into being afraid, like I am trying to do that!!  My hubby said when he retires we will drive and just take our time.  I'm good with that.  I also hate boarding my dog, I know he will not eat, and not understand but I have no choice...I want to see my new grandbaby of course and my son and DIL, just wish it wasn't like this. Most people would be jumping for joy, I'm just not one of them, not this way but I'll be strong and I'll do it just like I did when I flew to his wedding..  I counted the days until I could turn around and go home.  Yeah I'm a lot of fun to travel with!!

Dr.Kelli that would hurt, it's the friction that rubbed it raw, I got that once on a long bike ride from my biking shorts.  Use cornstarch on it, that will help.

Laura I think we do have the same bed setup.  I'd love to be a fly on the wall at that class, holy moly!

foxxie I didn't have any trouble logging in today, many times I do though.

I may get the TSV, I have 1 already and it really is helpful and useful for many things.  I wonder if my DIL in CO would like it.  She's kind of fussy about stuff but there are many uses for it.  Do ya'all think it would be a cheesey Christmas present?  I'd like it if someone gave me one.

Have a great day!  Happy Halloween, we get about 70 kids here and yes Logan has a fit but we are in a subdivision and that's why so many kids, there isn't any traffic to speak of.

Re: Welcome to the October Exercise Thread

Good morning all. @Laura14, holy ******.  Mrs. Obnoxious. Seriously.

@bopper--My sister is very anxious about flying too.  I do it too much to worry about it, but I understand it is a real fear.  Do you have an ipod or portable music player?  There are a number of meditation apps that may help take your anxiety down.  Or even a playlist of music that calms you.

@Mmsfoxxie @nomless and @MickD--waving hello!

So my crack injury is a little better today.  I was talking to one of the personal trainers at the gym that I have worked with and she said the same thing happened to her. LOL.  But now, I injured my back during quick fit yesterday.  I was trying to protect the crack injury and my form was bad for core work (and of course, that's what he did yesterday after I did it on Saturday).  I had a heating pad on it last night and zapped it with my portable tens unit.  I brought my tens unit to work today and have it on now.  It has helped--at least I can walk today.  Last night, I could barely move.  I have to get better quickly since I am teaching Zumba on Thursday night---I need to get a little practice in.

The guy in pound that had no rhythm--it happens for sure!  I see it all the time in Zumba--especially when i take it on a cruise.  It's hilarious. But I try not to laugh--at least they are trying and having fun.

I am not working out today because of my back, so hopefully I will be able to take yoga tomorrow.

Have a good halloween everyone!

Re: Welcome to the October Exercise Thread

@DrKelli  Mrs. Obnoxious, LOL!  I like it better!  Have you tried putting some cream on since it is a rubbing injury?  It might soothe it a bit if the skin is rubbed raw.  Kind of messy maybe for the clothes but it might help even if you just put vaseline or something on it.

@bopper  I think the TSV is just one of those things that you would never buy for yourself but you'd really like to try it.  I wouldn't make it an only gift unless you guys do something small for one another but I think it's perfect if you get that and some little stuff to put it in it maybe?   That would be cool and thoughtful in my book.

Congrats on counting down the days to the little one.  I think @Mmsfoxxie is down to 48 hours or less.  Smiley Happy
