Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

@JudyL  It is LETSCOM and you can get it off of Amazon for around $30.  I also did five replacement bands which was an additional $20 if you like to change them out.  I got it I think on Saturday and I haven't charged it at all since then come to think of it so thumbs up on battery life too.

The biggest difference between this and Fitbit is that it's no frills.  I had the Fitbit Charge 2 and compared to that:

1.  There is no battery indicator on the device itself that I can find if that bothers you.  It also charges like a flash drive so you just plug it into your computer USB port. No clip thing that Fitbit had.

2.  There are no 250 steps to take every hour.  It just zaps you to move at a time interval you set in the app and if you dont move in my case every 15 minutes it buzzes and gives you a stretchy man to tell you to move it.   But it doesn't track that you did 250 steps and then celebrate you.

3.  You can only put three activities on the device at a time so I have walk, run, and bike but you can change it to others in the app if you want to use those timing and tracking functions for specific fitness things.

That's all I can think of right now.  Oh and no meditation thing if you guys ever used that.  It does track your heart, sleep, and other things in the app just like Fitbit did. And you can set alarms which buzz your wrist like the Fitbit did if you use that.

Basically Fitbit is more of a babysitter and cheerleader to keep you motivated and honest more often.  Letscom is the same but it doesn't track you to death every hour on the hour so it's maybe a bit more of an honor system than the Fitbit is.  I prefer the more hands off approach.

Also, this one is waterproof.  My Fitbit HR Charge 2 was not.

I am glad to hear your foot is feeling better and you are getting back to normal.  And that the weather and air is better by you. If you are looking for a tracker for not much money that will do the basics, so far I am very pleased.

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Hey everyone, this morning I did Cassandra's Ab workout about 20 minutes on TG, then her Booty workout again about 20-25 minutes, it was really good, then threw on my nylon wind pants and walked Logan on the trail, very very ice.  Wore the Yaktraks.

Light snow falling now, so now I can't see where the ice is....

Laura thanks for the very detailed description of your new fitness tracker.  I have the Charge2, so far so good other than I replaced the bands, gotten on Amazon also.

I wrapped all my gifts this afternoon, I am almost done thank goodness.  We've scaled way back, not really any money to buy much but that isn't the reason is it?   My son and I were talking about that.   He said all they do is run here and run there on Christmas Eve and Day and it is very tiresome and I understand that.  Sometimes we have to start our own traditions, and not worry about stepping on toes.    Of course my dad likes us all together but with him,  sigh....a couple of the son in laws he wants to not include as well as the step children and their significiat other....well dad we can't do that!!   Then he gets mad....hence the Holiday drama.  Now who can relate,  there has to be someone other than us  LOL

Okie, not much else there, next week I leave...Hoping to get my steps in most days other than our traveling days where we sit...I'm not a good sitter, my bottom and tailbone hurt but such is life.

Hoping everyone has an enjoyable and relaxing evening!

Hi Ladies!  Rain, glorious rain has been in the Bay Area for a few days now.  Thank goodness!  We so need it.  Now if all this rain doesn't bring mud/debris slides in the fire areas, that'll be wonderful.

@Laura14 I looked on Amazon last night for your "fitbit" knock off and there are a lot of models to choose from.  Sorry to ask again, but which one is the one you like?  I'm not willing to pay the price for a real fitbit but this one I would like to try.  The price point is great.

@bopper I know travelling can be stressful, esp when you aren't used to it.  Even with all the travelling I've done, I still get anxious until I'm through security and on my way to my gate.  I've travelled through many an airport and have always found the staff/employees to be incredibly nice and helpful and signs everywhere telling me where to go.  Give yourself plenty of time to get there so you aren't stressed about missing your plane or finding your gate.  I don't usually do carry-on luggage, even for short trips, because I want to avoid all the hassle of getting through security.  So I usually just take a backpack with my camera, medication, a few other things, and what I need to keep myself occupied while on the flight.  Remember where you are going, you can always stop off at a Walgreens or CVS and pick up travel sizes of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc. if you don't want to take them on the plane.  Leaving our pets behind is hard but, if you can, take something from home for Logan while he's at the kennel.  He knows you love him and you trust this kennel so I'm sure he'll be fine.  You'll get lots of doggy kisses when you get home and, trust me, he'll soon forget all about it.  Its all going to be fine and you will have a wonderful time with your family, which is the most important thing.

I found my Zumba Gold (for seniors) DVDs last night.  Thought I had donated them.  I remember when I used them before I quickly found them too easy and not challenging enough but since I'm starting again after so many months off and my foot is still not 100% better, think they will be fine.  At least its something different than the Leslie Sansone walking DVDs which I'd like to take a break from.  Will try them this weekend.

Hope everyone has a good Thursday!

Thank you Judy, I'll try and keep all this in mind when we fly.  My husband is hard of hearing, and can't hear me asking him something and that drives me nuts, I know he can't help it and we can't afford hearing aids so it isn't his fault but I don't want the whole place to hear me talking while I start panicking.   I just want to get back home...I'm lots of fun!  Glad you got that welcoming rain!!!!  Thanks again!!!  Smiley Happy

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

@Laura14 ordered my LetsCom today.  Got it in black.  Will let you know how I like it after it arrives and I've given it a test drive.  I'm not very techy so hope I can figure out how to set it up and get it charged.  LOL  Have always wanted a Fitbit but the price was just not for me.  This one makes it so much more affordable, so I'm willing to try it out.  Thanks!

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

@JudyL  Congrats!  I hope it works for you.  Setup was a breeze and I don't even know how to work my smart tv yet.

Download the app from the Apple or Google Play store on your phone and the rest is just walking through the steps and synching or "binding" they call it.  Took less than a minute.

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Good morning, all.  I awoke way too early this morning and got frustrated when my iPads couldn’t get internet connection for about an hour.  Probably needed the router rebooted but I didn’t dare wake my husband, lol.  He already thinks I’m on there waaaay too often.  And he’s right, 😆.

@DrKelli, the next time you see that plant manager, try not to smirk 😏, hahaha 🤣.

Senior Cardio this morning.  Have a good day people.

Good morning all--I guess we are in for a cold miserable weekend here.  I am so glad it is Friday!

I had 8 people in Zumba yesterday!  I was so happy!  They all liked the holiday music, but I was missing a song, so class ended 5 minutes early. Boo.  I am going to reload the playlist this weekend and add one holiday song and one regular song and they can choose which they want to do.  It also gives me a few more days on the missing song to do better choreo.

It is weight training today. So that's always challenging.

@Mmsfoxxie--you can bet I will be smirking on the inside.  I hate to tempt Karma by being a jerk about something I'm right about.  The meeting is in 2 weeks.  BUT--their safety meeting is next week and I will not be going.  With the plant manager's boss' blessing---I told him that when I was sitting in my office the other day.

My knock off fit bit should be here tomorrow--I don't know why it is taking so long.  I have prime and I'm pretty sure it was a prime order.  Whatever.  I shouldn't be that stressed out over it.

Hope you all have a good day and good weekend!

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Wow I guess we are going to be the Fitness Thread sponsored by LETSCOM.

LOLSmiley Very Happy  Didn't realize we were all in the market for a new tracker.

I am so sore in my shoulders today.  I think the extra weight from yesterday plus the fact that I am definitely fighting something off (probably my mother's strep throat) has me ow, ow, ow today.

My stepsister and her wife are RVing back to our place of the world today and I am making her birthday cake for her party tomorrow.  Target pickup saved my life for that little last minute hey guess what you need to do?   Buy presents and bake a cake.  With what time and money?  Thank god for online shopping and store pickup during work hours.  LOL

I think I have it all figured out but I'll need to do a grocery store run for the canola oil I don't have anymore.    Didn't think of that when I was shopping Target online.

I am slowly figuring my new cable channels (I feel like I am in a hotel there so many) and this new on demand thing which is pretty cool.  I'll be trolling for fitness shows if they do that sort of thing anymore if I ever get a spare moment.

Anyway, this is my long winded post to say I have done nothing today except run all over the place.  Hope you are having a better fitness day!

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Hey everyone, it's Friday!!   I did my Simply Fit Board today incorporating it with hand weights and my Gazelle, just to mix it up a but.  I used 8# weights and that was challenging .  Had to drop to 5's for shoulder raises above the head.  Then did the trail walk, there was a black loose dog on the trail, quite large and I saw no owner.  He had a red collar though and although Logan was pretty worked up they sniffed each other, and then I slowly kept going about my way...Was nervous though, Logan doesn't do well with large dogs.

Hopefully my Charge 2 keeps working but it's good to know we have an alternative if now.

I have been waiting on a It cosmetics order to come, and the tracking hasn't been updated in 3 days, I sure hope I get it before we leave, I wanted to take it with me.  Whats the point in a tracking number when you can't track..I really hope it isn't lost in some distribution center.

I see Big Earthquake in Alaska, was watching it on the news.

I started December thread so we're all set there!
