Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Good morning, everyone.  It snowed all day yesterday.  A little on the heavy side in the morning and lightened up by afternoon.  So, I didn’t go out.  Chicken?  Yep.  Later, looking out the window, I saw that by early afternoon, what was sticking to my street in the morning, had disappeared by afternoon.  Surprising since the temp was in the teens.  So I exercised at home.

Boy, my credit card has been lit up this month....and mostly for me, lol.  Still have to get gift cards for my three grandsons, one granddaughter and one great grandson.  I don’t even try to guess at what they like anymore.  I’m not around them enough to know.  Two of my grandsons were born in December but I can’t do both bd and Xmas 🎁.

No workout today, I don’t t think......volunteer day.  I hope I get back on schedule Thursday.

@bopper, you’ll probably have to remind me about when you’re going on your trip which I’m sure you’ll enjoy after you get there.  I know how that trip anxiety works, lol.

Have a great day folks.

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Good morning all.

@bopper, your liquids have to be 3 oz or less and fit in a quart zip lock, which you have to take out of your luggage and put in the bin to go thru x ray.  Any liquid, gel or paste, so shampoos, deoderant, toothpaste, lotion etc.  I've never had to put makeup in a zip lock-- I use the Laura Geller balance and brighten too.  However, I usually check my bag.  But just remember the 3 oz rule and quart zip lock.  So use travel sizes when you can or rely on your hosts for shampoo and lotion!

Well, yesterday's zumba class had 4 people in it, so I hope I get that many. But it was that instructor that doesn't face the class, which is my pet peeve.

Today is yoga and I finally found a restorative yoga dvd that I can do at home on the weekends.

Hope you all have a great day.

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

@DrKelli  If you can share what restorative yoga program can be done at home, I'd love to take a peek at it.  I need some yoga in my life.  My instructor yesterday "confessed" she makes up the stretches at the end of class.  No kidding.  I didn't notice between finishing in about 30 seconds while a five minute song is still playing.  I'm somebody who believes in the cool down and stretching part as just as important as the workout.

@bopper  It's in an earlier post but the knockoff is by LetsCom I believe and is on Amazon for $29.98 when I bought it last week.  I also got five matching bands for an extra $19.99.

I think I have maxed out my credit card as much as I can and my savings account by paying it all off and we are finally just about set in the new place.  I am supposed to have real tv again today.  I'll believe it when I see it.  Hope springs eternal that I'll be bike riding on a daily basis after tonight.

I've just been informed that my new house mate is now moving back again (I'd show you my shocked face but I don't have one) and she will only be an occasional visitor again so lots of privacy to do what I need to do again.

Speaking of my new knockoff, it's zapping me to move so I am going to walk around my desk a bit.  Happy Wednesday all!

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

@Laura14, the DVD is called Restorative Yoga Practice: Gentle Beginners Sessions.  You can also search Yin Yoga (kind of the same thing). You need pillows or blankets to  help support your positions, but I have a bolster and blocks that do the same thing.  I will tell you--it is not an active practice.  Each position can be held up to 10  minutes.  I love it. It is my favorite class at the gym.

And I kind of do my own thing at the end of Zumba--my stuff isn't choreographed although the 2 new instructors choreograph their cool down.  I learned from my favorite instructor and she never choreographed hers either.

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Hey everyone, I did my workout this morning after being up since 3:30 once again.

Foxxie yes anxiety kicks in when I travel and get out of my routine....unfortunately.  Thank you for the good wishes.

DrKelli- Is the Restorative yoga by Deborah Donohue, is that the DVD?  I need it too, just not sure I can do nothing for 10 minutes just laying there LOL...Thank you too on the quart bag thing.  Is it only 1 bag per person?   I'm asking my son if I can use his shampoo and shower stuff and lotion.   If you say your LG, Balance and Brighten is okay and I don't have to have it in the bag too I'ld be okay with the mascara and other stuff.  All this stresses me out, I'm not much for flying and haven't done it very much but if I want to see my grandson I have too.  Then I worry about my boy Logan at the kennel that he won't understand why he's there and think we don't love him anymore,,,that breaks my heart totally.  My kids think I'm nuts, they love him too but not like I do.

Laura thank you for the info on your fitness tracker .  I looked it up on Amaon and if and when my fitbit dies I will get this one.

MickD are you on the trails?  Mine is so icy it's very hard going without wiping out.  I just got back with Logan and am relaxing now.

Judy hows things in the West?

Toni are you here?

Waving to everyone, need to get some laundry out of the dryer before it wrinkles.

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Yes, it's the Deborah Donohue one-- and one bag per person. I would also suggest you put your LG B&B in your purse or whatever bag is going under the seat in front of you.  I've had more of those get broken traveling!

And trust me--once you get used to the restorative practice, you can do nothing for a long time.  It is fabulous!

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Good morning all.  Wasn’t sure which thread to post on but.....here goes, lol.

Good weather yesterday!  First time this week.  Today is expected to be fairly pleasant and no excuse for not working out at my health center.  @Laura14, I went over and looked at your knock off and, yeah, seems interesting; reviews good.  Definitely a good price.  Wide selection, too.  I’m gonna check out YouTube reviews, too.

Zumba! this morning and I’m really looking forward to it! Everybody have a great day.

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Went to Power today.  My spot has been officially taken over by Pigpen and her man and they can have it.  The instructor asked me if I liked being up front and I said YES!

I did some increased weight on my bar including biceps which the instructor lied to us and said it was an increased weight factor.  It was not but we did it.  Uncle Vinny was not happy and said so.

Everyone panicked when Adonis was late this morning.  He walked in just as the instructor mentioned he wasn't there.  He then pointed out the floor weights in the room which are meant for the larger machines out on the floor in an effort to flex himself.  I was not impressed and neither was anyone else that I could see.  Big, strong man is a no go this morning.

Didn't see Nudie today.  Apparently I am going to be one when I get my first skin check in a few hours.  Not looking forward to it but I have a mole that's been changing over the past few years and I've heard enough about skin cancer in the past few months that I just want it off my mind.

My mother announced she has strep throat.  So far I am good although I've had a headache all week long.  I am dying for a real weekend to myself.  If she does go back to FL on Monday, I am so going to bask in the quiet.

She put in a new cable system yesterday because she loves tv.  Me not so much.  I turned it on last night and I feel like I am in a hotel.  I already scheduled my 8 year old niece to come and show me how to work the remote and other features.

At least I'll have plenty of entertainment to work out to now. Hope everyone has a great Thursday!

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Good morning, all!

I'm kind of enjoying the mild weather we've been having--it's cold enough that you know it's fall, but you don't have any annoying shoveling to do.

Yesterday was restorative yoga and I just love that class.  I feel taller when I leave.  Today is Zumba and I hope people show up to the class this week.  They will have the option of the December playlist, which includes several holiday songs or doing the November playlist one more time.  Our old instructor would have just switched it.  I may need to switch my cool down songs because they are both holiday.

Yesterday was a very good day.  As you all know, there is a plant manager that is an absolute jerk to me.  He literally expects me to be out at his plant every week and he would be most happy if I was there every day.  Well, I have 7 other plants besides his and none of them see me as much as he does.  In the afternoon, the Sr. VP of Operations (his boss) stopped by my office to ask me a question and then said he needed to have a conversation with me about expectations--I thought I was going to get chewed out because I haven't been going to the jerk's plant very often because I am so busy with other things that have been assigned to me by the President and my own boss.  We got to talking about it and the SVP said "These plants have gotten a very skewed idea about what corporate should be doing.  We are extremely short handed and none of us can spend that much time at each plant.  I told XXXX that you don't need to be spending 2 weeks watching a guy paint a stack and you don't need to be out at his plant for every outage for every day of the outage and that needs to stop".  I almost fell out of my chair.  I've been trying to tell the jerk plant manager that for almost 5 years.  So this conversation will be held with all plant managers in 2 weeks and I can't wait, because I'm going to be in the room where it happens (Hamilton reference LOL).

I think I am going to see Bohemian Rhapsody  one more time before it leaves the theater.  I've already preordered the DVD.

Oh and @Laura14--I ordered the fake fitbit, should get it by Saturday.  I swore I'd never have another one, but I like that it will remind me to get up and move.

One other thing I'm doing for me is that I got my keyboard out.  I used to love playing piano and decided I wanted to start again!

Hope you all have a great day--I may be back to tell you about Zumba!

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Hi Ladies!  Rain, glorious rain has been in the Bay Area for a few days now.  Thank goodness!  We so need it.  Now if all this rain doesn't bring mud/debris slides in the fire areas, that'll be wonderful.

@Laura14 I looked on Amazon last night for your "fitbit" knock off and there are a lot of models to choose from.  Sorry to ask again, but which one is the one you like?  I'm not willing to pay the price for a real fitbit but this one I would like to try.  The price point is great.

@bopper I know travelling can be stressful, esp when you aren't used to it.  Even with all the travelling I've done, I still get anxious until I'm through security and on my way to my gate.  I've travelled through many an airport and have always found the staff/employees to be incredibly nice and helpful and signs everywhere telling me where to go.  Give yourself plenty of time to get there so you aren't stressed about missing your plane or finding your gate.  I don't usually do carry-on luggage, even for short trips, because I want to avoid all the hassle of getting through security.  So I usually just take a backpack with my camera, medication, a few other things, and what I need to keep myself occupied while on the flight.  Remember where you are going, you can always stop off at a Walgreens or CVS and pick up travel sizes of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc. if you don't want to take them on the plane.  Leaving our pets behind is hard but, if you can, take something from home for Logan while he's at the kennel.  He knows you love him and you trust this kennel so I'm sure he'll be fine.  You'll get lots of doggy kisses when you get home and, trust me, he'll soon forget all about it.  Its all going to be fine and you will have a wonderful time with your family, which is the most important thing.

I found my Zumba Gold (for seniors) DVDs last night.  Thought I had donated them.  I remember when I used them before I quickly found them too easy and not challenging enough but since I'm starting again after so many months off and my foot is still not 100% better, think they will be fine.  At least its something different than the Leslie Sansone walking DVDs which I'd like to take a break from.  Will try them this weekend.

Hope everyone has a good Thursday!
