Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Got my Fitbit knockoff and it was super easy to set up.  Looks like it will do all the things I need it to do so we'll see.

Painters at the house making a racket but I am going to try and relax today.   These people never do things on the weekdays while you are at work.    I just sat down to try and stream a documentary on this new tv I got talked into buying and I can't because they are power washing my windows.

I really need to go food shopping and I would like to venture out at some point to the stores but I'm not sure I want to fight the painters, crowds, and everything else.  I've reached my limit lately and I need a people break.

Would you believe UPS lost another package?  I bought a clearance heater that was perfect for my bedroom and realized it never showed up.  QVC has offered to refund my money but I kind of want my heater.  I was so looking forward to two of them and this was a nice one.  I just can't even buy anything anymore because it never gets delivered.

I keep saying I am going to get on my bike and watch this tv.  I have no cable or satellite hookup so it's stream only and I am running out of stuff to stream.  I can only take QVC for so long.  LOL.

Have a good weekend all.

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

[ Edited ]

Hey pretty quiet here, I hope everyone isn't getting burned out with this forum, it really has taken a slide....

Laura I hear ya on people.  No way was I doing Black Friday shopping, I can't stand the crowds and the rudeness.  Was your heater the Duraflame?   That's a shame, where is it I wonder?

I only walked today, was going to do the gym but wasnt' feeling it at all.  I have the lazies I think, just don't feel like doing much of anything although my neighbor wants me to come over in a few for some wine, don't want to do that either but am forcing myself as I have turned her down about 3 times now and it's early enough, usually it's 6 or later and then I'm really not wanting to go.  Yeah, I'm loads of fun  LOL

I made lemon bars though, and fudge yesterday.  Not good when you can't stay out of it...Hubby will be home tonight from hunting camp.

Just light snow today, yesterdays rain melted a lot and it's sloppy out.

I can't take QVC with all this electronic stuff, and flashlights, blink, Wen, even the cooking shows drive me nuts with the faces, and yelling.... Merry, Merry huh  hahahahhah

Well guess I better drag myself up and change out of my tattered  clothes ,,, giggle giggle...

Later kido's

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Good Morning, just getting ready to hit the TG.   At least we didn't get that last storm the East coast and lower states are getting.

I'm posting after myself so not much to add here, stay warm and keep up your exercise!

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Good morning, all--I had a nice 5 days off and am sorry to report that I was lazy as you know what.

I'm sure that people are just busy, so there's not much activity on the thread--I'd sure like to see some of our old timer's come back--hopefully after the first of the year?

I am doing Quick Fit today--I really shouldn't because I have a dentist appointment and have to leave early, but I am feeling exceptionally fat today.

Hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving!@

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

I hit my 10,000 steps yesterday.  No idea how but I guess cleaning and Christmas tree decorating and a soccer game downtown helped.  I am loving the knockoff Fitbit.  It gave me a trophy and so far has done everything the other one did.  All for $30.

I am so not looking forward to going back to the gym tomorrow for official classes.  I'm sure I'll feel differently once the routine is back but I haven't missed it.

Have a great Monday!

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Good morning everybody!

Boy what a day yesterday was!   No electricity from 6:07 am to 4:14 pm!  Before that I had reset the clocks due to short 5 or 10 minute power failures.  I guess ComEd was trying to prevent what ultimately happened anyway. By 10 am or so it was so cold!  I did a lot of walking to warm up, forget doing it for fitness, lol.  I guess the extremely high winds that we had Sunday night damaged something.

And we got snow.......late Sunday night into Monday til about noon.  My area got a little over two inches.  And yes, Ms.Cheapo went out and shoveled.  It wasn’t bad until I got near the end of the driveway where the village plow truck had come by and zapped us with snow from the street.  I almost gave up on that.

Boy, did I feel cutoff from the outside world!  No tv, no social media!  Cold food.....yuk!  No heat but at least my shower was still warm.  At least my Kindle was still available for reading books I’ve ordered but had it gotten around to.  The Five Languages of Love......good reading.

Didn't go out to the health center, of course.  Ha, they might have been under a power outage too and therefore, closed but even if it wasn’t, that snow was coming down and making driving so dangerous that a lot of seniors probably didn’t come out.

I’m debating going out this morning.  Exercising at home  (more snow is coming this morning) is sounding good.  But Tuesday’s workout schedule is one of my favorites.

Glad you’re liking your Fitbit knock off @Laura14.  I’m debating what to do, waiting til January.  Strange, though, that shoveling snow got me hardly any points in any area except time.  And I know I exerted a lot of energy because, except for my finger tips, I was sweating.  My T-shirt and hair were damp was I finished.

Enjoy your day everyone!

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

@Mmsfoxxie  I am glad you survived the weather and black out.  I know that was no fun.  I highly recommend the knock off.  It's not as obnoxious as Fitbit in terms of the reminders and making you do a certain amount of steps which it doesn't seem to count accurately.  So far this one seems to be counting most of what I do and doesn't stress me out as much.  If you have an extra $30 to try it, you may want to take a gamble on it.  No complaints at all so far from me.

I made and I mean made myself go to the gym this morning.  I was so enjoying a gym free life for a week.

I lucked out and a girl walked in right in front of the guy that sets up for himself and Ms. Pigpen and she took the place next to me.  He ended up going back to their original spot across the room. Thank you!

Apparently my spot has become prime real estate.  Always does when the newbies come and play.  I wish I could move out and give it to them and on Thursdays now I am which may have caused this morning's issue.

I'm setting up for Power after Pound and the rush comes in and a couple girls start placing bars where those of us who did Pound already are.  They were quickly moved and, as I am setting up my step, one girl asks me if I was staying.  Um, looks like yes.  My equipment is already there even before Pound starts so not sure what clue she missed.

She ended up next to me after shoving the other girl further away and you know it's always these types who don't even really do the class and end up leaving halfway through it which she did.  And January isn't even here yet.

I so want to tell these people there is a respectful way to be a newbie and a not respectful way to do it.  Learn the former.  It's a big room.  Pick an OPEN space whether you like it or not.  It's an hour.  You'll live no matter where you are.

I am trying to figure out where I can get a new spot without taking someone else's.  Unless I want to set up in front of the instructor which I hate (I feel like I am in their face), I think I am going to have to tough the newbies out for a bit and get my respite on Thursdays.

This gym thing is becoming tiresome and stressful with the sudden nonsense of fellow gym goers.  I may be looking into possibly doing an at home trial of some of the apps that have classes instead.  I hate to make another expense for myself but it may be worth it now that holiday shopping is done and I'll hopefully have some extra money again.

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday.

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

@bopper--your blackout sounds terrible!!  I'm glad you do have power again.  That happened to me on New Year's Eve a couple of years ago--it got cold in my house quickly!

@Laura14, I can't stand the newbies--I'm surprised it is happening so early though.  Maybe they realized that it is high calorie season and better get to the gym.  We only have a month before the Rezzies take over the gym.  Thankfully they only last a couple of weeks. And then the "OMG--swimsuit season is only 6 weeks away".

I had a successful trip to the dentist yesterday.  Except the hygienist that I have been going to for years quit and it was a new one.  I was all "You're not Amy.  Where's Amy?"  I was pretty rude and I did apologize after she cleaned my teeth.  I have issues with new people touching my mouth due to a very very bad experience as a kid.

Well, UPS is delayed delivering until late at night.  I get Hello Fresh meals on Monday and they didn't deliver them until after 7:30 last night.

I survived Quick Fit yesterday (I knew it was a bad decision) and today is small group.  I didn't think I was going to be able to go, but I am so busy with end of the year stuff, I am not going to do any plant visits until after the first of the year.  I do hope I have people for my zumba class on Thursday.

Hope you all have a good day!

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

@DrKelli  I don't know!  It's like school went back and they all came in October in force.  I am not sure what the rush is and we even had a new gym open not too far away this year.  Go there!  Too crowded here anyway.

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Hey ya'all,  I did 45 minutes on my TG and then walked for 40 outside on a very slippery and snowy trail.  Logan loved it though.

foxxie glad your power is back, that's no fun for sure.  I'm glad we have wood heat for those times although this may be our last season burning, hubby is getting tired of splitting and hauling it in and I can't blame him.  It's nice having warm floors though.

Laura what is this knock off Fitbit called?  Did you say?   Glad you like it.

DrKelli glad you rested up.  I remember the newbies when I did classes...

Next week I leave, so I won't be posting until I get back so everyone knows.  About 5 1/2 days I'll be gone.

Got groceries this morning, Walmart was nut-so, and I hate the self checks, and the bags are so small I couldn't fit a pizza box in the bag,,,,had to throw it in my cart...uggggggg

Almost bedtime for me, every night i wake up about 4 and that's all she wrote, sigh.....sometimes it's 3 am.

I think after my trip I"ll sleep better.  I over think everything and only want to take a carry on and a back pack so I'm hoping I can figure out how to pack and not really used to flying.  Is it true you are only allowed 1 quart bag per person?   I'm trying to get my makeup, and face wash, moisturizer and toothpaste in it.  The TSA said online that even makeup you use such as powder is considered a liquid, anything you can spread.  So I have my Laura Geller foundation, ( is that considered liquid even though it's in powder form), it said mascara was considered liquid, concealer?  Can anyone help.
