Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Check In

Hey all, still kinked in the hip/waist area so another day of nothing..but tomorrow I am getting back into it but will be careful..

Dreary day here about 50, rained hard last night with high winds but it's calm now. Had my GD sleep here last night and she is a stitch...so funny...she slept good and I brought her to school this morning and did my grocery shopping.

Seems we all are experiencing pains and boo boos to some degree.....always something hey?

Safe travels home PPPmint and hoping the sciatica stays away and Lucy is alright too.

Nice to see you Judy....great workout too.

mtnbikegirl you did good on that elliptical...way to go!

Nomless how are you doing...I know you are getting it done!

Waving to gazelle, Tony, MickD and everyone today.

Hey all, I didn't do a workout again today...another day to let my back loosen a bit. It is getting better but I didn't want to push the envelope either. I had a dentist appt. today and sitting in that chair didn't help it but I asked her for a pillow to put under my low back and that helped and it only took her 35 minutes to clean my teeth.

My GD is spending the night and then I have to take her to school in the morning and then I will grocery shop. Supposed to get over an inch of rain tonight...

Glad to see so many checking in...I really haven't had anything to report...Gazelle nice to see you and your doing great...I am also approaching 60...so your not alone there.

Pppmint so glad you had your inhaler...my hubby has asthma and it isn't fun when you get an attack. Enjoy your time with the kids..

Tony it's OK to not be on the computer all the time..we get so we depend on it and it's a nice break to just not do it for a while.

MickD I get shin splints when I walk outside on the pavement but not on the treadmill. They hurt too.

mtnbikegirl just take care of them and don' t over do it.

FUTURE we are missing you............

Looking like rain already.

I have had tons of Orioles at my feeder and they love grape jelly and oranges so if you want to attract them put out 1/2 of an orange or a lid of grape jelly..they will come.

Have a good night all!

My son had a terrible bronchial-asthma attack yesterday. This pollen is brutal! He's on all kinds of meds now.

I'm going to try that with the orange and the jelly. I have seen a few Orioles in the backyard and I love them. I have a family of woodpeckers that moved into one of my birdhouses. They are so much fun to watchSmile

I find the stretches really help with the shins/calves. You really have to incorporate that into your workout. I know that, but I'm always in a rush to go somewhere, I try to skip it. Boy did I pay for my haste!

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Check In

I'm here! Sorry I've been out for a while. We have been SO super busy lately. I'm totally exhausted. Work has been busy, and so has life. We've had people in and out of town, things going on at the house or out with friends, and I've managed to work out (pretty) regularly. I've been walking a lot lately, trying to get outside some. Today I walked for almost an hour and listened to a podcast. Loved it! I have been transitioning to a different job, as well. I'm still going to be working at my regular job, but less, and working in a completely different field the rest of the time. I'm super excited about it, but it'll definitely be different! Lol! Anyway, you guys are doing so well, as always. I just browsed the thread since I last posted, but just wanted to say THANKS for keeping me motivated! When my job changes, I'm going to overhaul my WO routine bc my hours will be a little different, and I'm ready to mix things up. Smiley Wink I'll keep y'all posted. Have a great night, all!!

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Check In

Oh! I saw the post about the birds, and I was going to say that I saw a HUGE bright red cardinal in my tree in the front this am. I just happened to be out watering my plants, and he was singing his heart out. What a nice moment. Smiley Happy

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Check In

Hi everyone! Late to bed and early to rise again...ugh! I was wide awake when I got in bed last night, couldn't even sleep with dh doing my back. Son gets up at 5 for work which woke Lucy up.

Oh well, I already walked with her and it was so peaceful...speaking of birds, there were tons of them! One sat on top of a street sign and didn't move, we walked right by it too. Yesterday while running, I must have seen 10 Goldfinch birds flying all over. At least I think that's what they are...bright yellow with some black...but tiny.

I'm sore from doing weights yesterday! I HAVE to get back to regular weight lifting(heavy), seriously nothing else takes its place. Once we get settled after the move, I'm hitting the gym again and not for cardio.

I did get hurt though, had a bar fall on my leg...long story. I wanted to cry but had to play it off...lol.

Hi FUTURE! We're heading into some crazy busy times too...this summer will be a stress-filled whirlwind.

MickD...sounds like you're getting back there!

bopper...hope your back is better today??

Mtnbikegirl...I always do stretches for shin-splints and Plantar Faciatis(sp) since I've struggled with both. It's a good reminder for us all.

nomless...hope your week is going well.

Waving to Tony, Canine, Judy(woohoo...2 days in a rowWink) and everyone else!

Going for a run this morning, stopping at gym for legs, then packing up again and heading home! Kind of sad though, probably won't see kids again until my husband's ceremony...but if my son stays healthy, we can do it! {#emotions_dlg.thumbup1}

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Check In

p.s. I scored at the mall yesterday...or I should say my dil did since that's who I mainly bought for! I got her the cutest Inc cardigan at Macys but her favorites were the top from Black House/White Market and the black flats. And that was the top I wasn't sure about!

So if anyone is interested and going to Macy's...the Inc cardigan was originally $80...was on the clearance rack and I had a coupon so ended up getting 2 Inc pieces for $30 out the door! Her flats were only on sale for $34 but with the 20% off coupon, it was still a good deal.

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Check In

PpprMintPatty= this is such a great thread! I am being mindful everyday to stretch. I notice how few people stretch after an intense workout. I used to teach spin, step, body toning, and ride a lot on my road bike. The instructor that followed me would always get frustrated with me because I would stretch my class out a good 10 minutes after class.

I live in a very populated area, and I find road cycling very dangerous now. Too many accidents/injuries to fellow riders. I ride in the trails now. Safer against cars, but the ticks are pretty rough{#emotions_dlg.sad} It's just such a peaceful workout. The pine trees smell so good, and the deer are everywhere. I notice so many more cardinals this year. They are so beautiful to listen to and to behold their brilliant red color.

Bopper, I have to remember to put my orange and jelly out this morning. I want to attract the Orioles!

Oh yeah, almost forgot...did an hour of elliptical, hamstring curls, leg press. abductor , adductor machines.

Have a wonderful day ladies!

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Check In

Morning Ladies!

Today was what I call a non-exercise day - I'm trying to work out 2 days, then do a stretch day, then work out 2 days, then a stretch day, etc. So today was a stretch day and I have a DVD that I like a lot so used that.

It's a nice day here in the Bay Area. Hope everyone is doing well.

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Check In

Hi! Did the treadmill 2.75 mi./33 min. I didn't feel like it - tired and thirrrrrrrsty and had to stop a couple of times for water. Mntbikegrl - I just started stretching before workouts this week since the shin splint debacle (I used to when I trail ran...), and don't stretch afterward, but instead do housecleaning, etc. as a cool down...works for me...

Patty ~ I love INC...haven't bought anything in awhile...my fav store the last couple of years has been WHBM....you've got great taste!

Wishing everyone a happy day!
