Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Thread

Hey everyone, thank you for the Congrats on my DS and DIL, we're very excited!

Lucy I remember you said the Nutrisystem was terrible.  Wonder how some people think it's good, they must sell a lot of it too.   I hope DH"s sleep study went alright on day 2.  And that other dog after our Lucy!   How scary, and then for the lady to not act like she really was concerned is so rude!   What is wrong with people?

I did Pilates reformer today and yoga and just got back from a dog walk.  Almost didn't go, it's cold, windy and the trail is all hard snow and ice and it was very dicy especially when your dog is yanking on a leash and your trying to keep from falling down.

Nomless I am person no. 3 who thought of her this week.   NCIS has marathons like every other day and I often think of her when I am flipping channels.  My dad watches them all the time, he loves them.

foxxie do you think you will go to Hawaii?  My son and DIL went there for their honeymoon and my neighbor just got back from there.   I know we'll never there, we rarely get out of town LOL but I live through others pictures.

Waving to everyone!

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Thread

Hi, everyone.  I am so disappointed in my body!  I had that darn dizziness yesterday starting after I ate a. Early dinner.  I didn't feel able to go to my event at the center that I had been looking forward to for weeks!  I don't know what I did to set it off because I was find all morning.  I had to take my Dramamine and went to bed.  I was ok by 7 pm or so.  Drat!!

@bopper, I haven't been to Hawaii because of the long flight.  I so want to, though.  Each time my son comes here, his connection is via San Diego, I believe.  He doesn't mind it.  A nonstop flight is about eight hours but with a layover, you can end up in the air much longer, depending on the route the plane takes.  Could be ten or more hours.  I don't know if they even have a direct flight anymore.

I've been awake since about 3 am.  I rested all yesterday afternoon and now my body rhythm is off.  I feel ok, though.  Just tired.  I'm going to workout if all goes well.

I hope everyone is feeling great today.  I'm going downstairs for my coffee.

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Thread

Good Friday Morning to you, our schools are closed today, it was so icy when we got up today, the flights out of here are cancelled too.   However I believe that by noon the roads should be salted.   I'm heading to lunch with 2 friends, I'm not doing the driving though, but we all live within a block of each other.

This morning I did Pilates reformer for an hour and then the hip and back yoga stretches.   I still haven't received my books, and doesn't look like it will be today either.  Things take so long to get here.  I really wanted them for the weekend, maybe tomorrow since they are coming through the USPS.

Lucy I hope you are feeling better and can figure out which medication will help the most.  When is DIL coming home?  Do you know when you'll get your orders to move?

Foxxie how was the Health seminar?  Is there  a  lot of informative stuff?

MickD treadmill today?   I sure wish this ice and snow would go, the trail is a mess and then I"ll have to wait until the water recedes as it's a muck hole back there.

Well I better get ready here, have a great day everyone!

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Thread

Hi everyone, I just stumbled on your monthly exercise thread, so I hope you don't mind if I join in.  I am very lucky in that my employer pays for most of a gym membership.  I take advantage of it during my lunch hour most days.  I do a boot camp type class twice a week, a small group strength and cardio session, a 30 minute strength training (today) with a trainer, and Zumba on Thursdays!  I just got my Zumba instructor certification in December and the instructor of my Thursday class lets me teach a few songs each week to practice.

I am actually taking the Strong by Zumba instructor training in May and am hoping they might add that to my gym class offerings.

I am a competitive race walker, but took last year off because I wasn't into in mentally and physically, I just felt exhausted.  I ended up doing two races and placed in both, but could definitely tell I wasn't ready for that level.

Anyway, I have enjoyed reading through this thread and will check in daily.

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Thread

Oh no Msfoxxie!  So sorry you missed it, I hate when that happens.  Are you feeling better now?  I also had a rough night...migraine(haven't had one in so long and very nauseous.  I didn't even eat dinner, anyone that know me knows it has to be really bad for me not to eat...lol!  I can tell it's my sinuses, these darn weather changes really get to me.  Rained all morning...going from 20* to 60* later today supposedly.

bopper...have fun with your neighbors at lunch.  Our trails are a mess too...had so much snow, ice, then rain....my shoes are a mess, wore my old ones and got a blister.  DIL gets back from Italy tomorrow...she sent a picture this morning...the company she works for has a branch in Milan and they have a robot that gives you gelato!

Welcome DrKelli!  New folks are always welcome here.  I used to be friends with a race-walker, went to a 2-day clinic down in Puerto Rico that taught you the techniques, form, etc.  I have thought about taking another one if I can find it since I don't run near as much these days due to injuries this illness...I've been doing more power-walking and hiking(I love the woods and nature) than running but still love a good trail-run...think that's my favorite.

Speaking of which, my gf sent me the sweetest box yesterday!  I loved it....a puzzle about the woods with a fox on it, a nature book with some really cool pictures, quotes, and things to do in the woods, and the kindest hand-written card ever.  Really, really thoughtful.  My friends and family have been so supportive since my diagnosis, have people coming out of the woodwork to send me messages, texts, cards, and phone calls.

I got my bedsheets, comforter, and upstairs done this morning.  Wasn't going to work-out because I was up most of the night but that changed...lol.  I did strength-yoga with weights(I really like it, found this gal online), pilates reformer, bosu ball, rode my bike 20 miles, and did a good ab work-out on the big ball and used the small, blue pilates-ball...they were screaming.  Now I'm thinking that may not have been smart after being nauseous all night.  May head out after I'm done cleaning.

DH was called back in to give another vial of blood this morning as they "forgot a test".  He did his 2nd sleep test last night at the sleep clinic...got home at 6 a.m., showered and headed to work.  He's had quite the busy week.

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Thread

Forgot...nomless, hope you're okay.  You had asked about the gym staff....we got a message from the gym saying they are doing a new schedule that will be out Monday adding more classes to the other two gyms.  So I'm guessing they're trying to make some opportunities for more instructors.  I imagine the PT's can just book with clients over there.

And bopper...about the orders...we should have had them 3 months ago.  That's the problem, they are way past due and you can't set anything up without them.  Which puts us way behind the curve ball.  I feel like they don't want him to retire!  My gf's husband here is leaving after dh is and he already has his!

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Thread

TGIF!!!!!!  I did the trail today @bopper !  I jogged for 25 min then walked home....felt amazing!  If I could do this 3x/wk I'd be very happy.....we shall see!

I should have worked out yesterday but dang I was tired from cleaning the grout on wed....did 4 hours. I have one more room to do downstairs then will do the 3 baths upstairs whenever as they are not bad at all.

@Mmsfoxxie that is great that your grand will have your middle name....that means so much!

@Iluvlucy my DH has done nutrisystem and loved it.....I loved the crunchy snacks....the food smelled not good to me!

@DrKelli Welcome!

@nomless and everyone -have a great weekend!

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Thread

Good morning, everyone.  Welcome to our group, @DrKelli.  Hope you continue to post with us.  Boy did it rain last night!  Still drizzling and it's supposed to be wet all weekend.

Yesterday was a perfect day!  I had a good workout and no dizziness.  Oh how I would have loved to have switched the bad Thursday with the Good Friday feelings, lol.  Someone suggested that it was a spike in my blood pressure which I hadn't thought of since I've never had high blood pressure.  I just automatically assumed it was my usual vertigo issues.  Everybody that went to the seminar loved it.

Zumba this morning.  I'd love to know what Strong Zumba is @DrKelli.

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Thread

Happy Saturday everyone, it's another dreary dark day here but it is what it is.

I'll be doing my reformer and yoga today.   Perhaps a dog walk if the drizzle lets up.   There is a holestic health fair I wanted to go to but my car is leaking fluid so I have no way to get there.

Welcome Dr.Kelli, cool that you do competitive race walking.  I love to walk too when the weather is nicer and ride my bike.

Foxxie glad you had a good day yesterday and no dizziness wah hoo!!   I still don't have my books, now it says by March 31st  Smiley Sad   Seriously what takes so long.....

Lucy hope your feeling better, what does the weekend hold?  So cool about the box you received from your friend.   Cool stuff and nice memory!   Glad you found some new running skirts too!

MickD awesome on the jog on the trail, wish our trails were bare and dry, it's a ice rink back in the woods, temps at 32 right now.  That grout is a job, you must have a big home, I sometimes think I'd love more than 1 bathroom but maybe not  LOL.  I have a very small home but it's enough for me to take care of!  Hahaha

I sure wish we'd see some sun, this dreary gets old but seems each Spring we have to get through the dulldrums and we're smack in it now.

Have a wonderful Saturday!

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Thread

[ Edited ]

Hey everyone!  Glad you're feeling better Msfoxxie...that diziness can be so bothersome.  I felt a little "off" yesterday after my migraine so did a more gentle work-out.

It's cloudy here too bopper but I think that's my weather anymore. The older I get, the colder and more overcast I like it.  Especially since sun and heat take more energy from me and can bring on a flare.  We still have a few snow mounds but I would guess they'll all be gone by this afternoon with this warm-up..the sun was out for about 10 minutes though...then rain later today.  I can't believe you still don't have your books!  Maybe because we're Prime they ship faster?  But I imagine there is a large distribution center by DC.  My car is acting up again too...ugh...and we recently put $6000 into it!

We did a 10-mile trail run and hike this morning(well, I went out for 4 by myself then met up with dh).  Trails are a mud-bog but it was still enjoyable for me...dh complained about it a lot...I told him he didn't "have" to come...then his calf started hurting..ay. Smiley Tongue   We saw the eagle, I took some pictures but they never turn out well when it's overcast. Stopped to pet a horse, the owner let Rob feed it....so beautiful and friendly.

Now we're going to bike to a restaurant for NOVA Restaurant Week via the W&OD trail...my hair will look lovely by the time we get there especially if it rains. Smiley Tongue  I told dh I don't want to do over 20-miles after the 10 this morning and with the week I've had, so choose accordingly.  We also did some weights and I always do some yoga.  I am loving the strength yoga...harder than it looks, dh was surprised because of the light weights. It really works on your balancing more because the weights in your hands can pull you down so it makes it harder, even on your core..like in warrior pose with your hands out front holding weights and balancing on one foot...you have to engage your muscles more.

Okay, I better shower and get going...need to do a good tick-check.  I feel itchy now.
