Re: Welcome to the June Exercise Thread

Mick, enjoy your Rommba. I had one early on, but it died, and I never replaced it.

Foxxie, enjoy your Red Hat get-away.

This is weird. Judy mentioned PiYo a few days ago, and I chimed in that I was interested in the program but wasn't sure. The reviews are mixed. Today, I was cleaning out old email and discovered I purchased PiYo in March 2016 from an eBay seller. I don't remember buying it, I don't remember receiving it, nor can I find it. I have the shipping info including a tracking number, but the number is too old to be tracked. I wonder if I received it, and if I did, where is it??? Call me perplexed.

Re: Welcome to the June Exercise Thread

Hi everyone!  Well, today is the big day!  I practiced the whole class the last two nights and set a timer last night to make sure the class was 45 minutes (and the answer is yes, it is). I'll check back in afterwards to tell you how it went.

Funny you are talking about PIYO--I just ordered it over the weekend.  I do not like Yoga at all but I need to incorporate some flexibility training because my back is so stiff most days.  It should be here tomorrow (that really isn't very express, is it?)

Hot day here again.  I have linen pants on today and tomorrow is shorts day.  Our company picnic is this weekend, so I hope we have a lot of shade at the park.

@Mmsfoxxie, I hope you have fun at the Red Hat gathering.  For many years, I traveled to Jackson, MS to join in the Sweet Potato Queen festivities around St. Patrick's Day.  The book series is hilarious and the first time I heard the author (Jill Connor Browne) on the radio, I said "I have found my people" and 10 years later, I still have friends that I made through the "book club" as we call it!

@MickD--many people are so enamored with their Roomba's, that they name them!

@nomless@bopper and all others--I hope you have a great day!

Have a good class, DrKelli.

Post feedback after you do PiYo for awhile, please. I'd liked your opinion to help me decide if I should order.....again. I'm still looking, now in unlikely places, and so far have not found the PiYo I apparently ordered before. It's making me nuts!!

I suppose It's possible that I returned it....maybe the disks were bad and didn't play....

@nomless

Let me know if you ever want to try PiYo.  Think I have an extra set of the DVDs I could send you one.  Will check tonight.  When I tried PiYo, think I pushed myself to try something to hard for my level or I should say lack of level of fitness.  Should have worked up to it.  Would like to get back to it at some point cuz I did like it and did notice that it made me stronger and my pants did feel a bit looser.

Well I've been trying to get up in the morning and do a workout but this week at work has been brutal for lots of reasons so instead of getting a good night's sleep, I keep waking up anywhere between 1 and 2 and tossing and turning.  The stress level at my job right now is high, I guess you could say.  Anyway, then I don't fall back asleep again until an hour or so before my alarm goes off.  When it then does go off, I can't get up and just keep hitting the snooze.  Ugh.  Too wiped out to work out when I get home so will try again tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

@nomless, did you check Youtube for PiYo.  You can try with their video to see if it's your cup of tea.

Re: Welcome to the June Exercise Thread

Hey all, it's warm here also and very muggy!   I walked early this morning, did pilates and did a short dog walk.  So much rain that I didn't go far back to the trail as it's too buggy and to wet.  Logan found is mud puddle to drink from though Hahah

Funny the talk of PiYo I was also interested in it.  I go in spurts, get interested think of getting it and then the interest subsides.  I have so many dvd's and I go for a while and then I just don't do them.  I have a hard time getting into dvd's.   I haven't done my bodyblade in a while either, I dont' know why and I have no reason.

foxxie have fun at the Red Hatters.  We have a group here called the Sunshine girls and they go to the nursing homes and hospitals and do little skits and songs.  They look like that have lots of fun.

DrKelli sounds like you have your routine down to your 45 minutes.  Yes please tell us how it goes.  Sorry your so stressed from your job.  My sisters both have very stressful jobs at hospitals, ( not nurses or anything, but desk jobs) and lots and lots of lay offs and it doesn't matter if your have 30 years in or 3 years in they come get you, tell you your done, and escort you out, no warning at all.  It's very scary!

I am taking my 89 year old dad to a band concert in the park tonight. Sousa marches and I know he'll enjoy that.

Have a good one everybody!

Re: Welcome to the June Exercise Thread

Well, I survived it!  And it went really well!  There were a BUNCH of new people in the class (sorry to them that they had a brand new instructor instead of our regular awesome person) and the person observing me told me that she was probably going to just watch and I told her that she had to dance some.  So she said okay--but then I'll probably just watch.  AND SHE DANCED THE WHOLE TIME!!! (Now, I think that says something about me as an instructor!)  I made a few tiny errors, but this was the biggest class I've seen in awhile--even when our regular teaches!

Everyone said they had a good time and the girls that have been with me since I started learning to teach Zumba said that I did a good job.  Now that the first one is out of the way--I won't fret over it as much!

Re: Welcome to the June Exercise Thread

Walked on treadmill for half hour this morning and then did one hand Power class again.  My teacher called me out during  biceps.  I was a little afraid the gym wouldn't let me in so I hid the cast and exercised as quietly out of the way as I could.  Made it through.  I am dying to go hiking this weekend but it's really hot here and I am already over this cast and not being able to take it off to get clean underneath.  I might try an ice pack on that arm to keep it from sweating.  We'll see.  Smiley Sad

@DrKelli  Congratulations on your class!  It definitely sounds like you are a wonderful instructor.

DrKelli, yay on your great class!

Laura, good to see you. How long will you be in a cast?

Judy, thanks for offering piyo dvd if you have extras. Wish we could PM here. Are you on myfitnespal?

I was happy to see that piyo's price has come way down in eBay. Won't hurt too badly if I decide to buy again. I read reviews again on Amazon, and reports of injuries are fairly common. Especially knees and shoulders. Might not be a good program for me.

Re: Welcome to the June Exercise Thread

@nomless

Wanted to check in real quick.  Was busy tonight after work so didn't get a chance to look for the DVDs but I will I promise.  @Mmsfoxxie idea of checking YouTube first for videos to watch/try is a good idea.  I thought it was hard to do and at times thought a woman my age shouldn't be trying to move that way so I would do other moves or modify them.  I can't say with absolute certainty that doing PiYo is what caused my hip/back to act up so thats why I do want to try it one more time but only when I've been exercising a while and have lost some more weight.  Then I think/hope the moves will be easier for me.
