Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Thread

@JudyL, my cats love the Cat Dancer toy, too. It sounds like Monty is adjusting to your home. It's great you're encouraging him to interact with you and explore, as well as allowing a space for him to retreat to when he needs to be by himself to think it all over.

When I moved to a new apt., Shadow was initially overwhemled. He got into a corner, facing the wall, and stayed there for about 8 hours. He wouldn't respond to me at all, so I let him be. After 8 hours, he got up, began exploring the place, and was fine with it. His behavior was immediately back to normal after those 8 hours facing the wall.  So I'm a firm believer that some cats need "thinking time" as they adjust to new surroindongs, lol. It sounds like Monty is already starting to bond with you.

Bopper, yay that you're going to a game tonight. It's a long drive, but I hope you enjoy your day, a mini-vacation!

Foxxie, I bet new batteries will get your scale back to normal.

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Thread

@Mmsfoxxie Have fun at the VFW picnic!

@bopper It sounds like you all made the best of the weather.  If I could, I'd give yuz my flyer miles!  I remember when we moved from Chicago to Cali.....my mom was so upset as my son was just 2 months old.  I said - mom just think of it as we're only 7 hours away, and not a couple thousand miles away.

@nomless In running shoes I wear 2 sizes longer for toe room.

@JudyL Your new cat sounds like mr. personality plus!!  How exciting for you both!

Have a happy Saturday everyone!  Did 2.9 mi/34 min on the treadmill.  I didn't run yesterday so didnt get the 4th workout in this week...sokay!

I was busy yesterday.....as we are putting in a cement pond!  My husband is conveniently out of town, so I had to make some on the spot decisions.  The yard was torn up yesterday and today they're digging!

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Thread

Happy morning everyone!  The picnic was ok but we only stayed about an hour and a half.  If I had known we wouldn't be there long, I would have eaten more food at home instead of there.

I didn't eat much but it definitely wasn't WW approved.  I ate a piece of fried catfish (would have loved another piece), half a bratwurst, no bun, about half cup potato salad, half cup coleslaw and some string beans.  Way more than I should have got but less than I normally eat.  I passed up pasta salads, ribs, cake, cookies and pie.

Looks like I'm the only one in the group that doesn't have a pet?  I'm a firm believer that if you don't want to put in the work, don't get one.  You have to do as much for them as you would a child.  Hubby wants a boxer but he's in and out too much which means the responsibility would fall on me.  Oh...we do have fish, about ten at last count.  They are beautiful.....everytime I pass the tank, they all scurry to the front of it, watching me, hoping for food I guess.  And they eat better than I do.  Shrimp and some kind of healthy blend.  Come to think of it, they might require as much maintenance as dogs and cats.  We have a guy come once a month to clean the tank and change the water.

WW meeting this morning and since I drive right by the health center, I'll probably stop for a walk.

I might start going to my meeting during the week because there are going to be a lot of Saturdays when I have social events where I eat.  I know WW says plan your eating but unless you cook it, you don't know how to determine points unless you eat a green salad.  Even the green beans that I ate might have had a lot of calories.  They were so good, they had to have something bad in them, lol.

Enjoy your day guys.

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Thread

At my WW weigh in, I lost .6 of a pound, lol.  I'll accept that.  My WW leader said that with loss of 7.2 lbs last week, I shouldn't have expected much this week.  Makes sense.

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Thread

Good morning all.  I think the sun is coming out today!  Yesterday was dull and overcast even though, around here, it didn't rain.  I hope everyone's weekend was good....mine was.

Today is senior cardio, then weight training day.  I think I'm going to cut off the walk today.  I walked yesterday.  As a matter of fact, I'm going cut back on walking everyday.  If I do cardio of some kind, I don't need to walk that day.  I don't think it's helping anything.

Well, everybody get out and enjoy this (hopefully, yours is as good as mine, lol) beautiful weather today.

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Thread

Happy Monday Morning!   We returned late yesterday from our weekend trip to see my son and DIL, had a wonderful time and he was a great host and actually made this happen for us among other fun things he had in store for us.   Made good time and had great gas milage so it was all good!

Its 45 degrees here this morning and some places were in the 30's.   I'm cold right now but refuse to turn on the heat in July!   Saying 70 by this afternoon and 80 tomorrow.

Not much going on today, not sure which workout I"ll do, but I"ll be doing one for sure!

Have a great day!

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Thread

Good morning, everyone!  I'm surprised I made it to work today.  Yesterday's LaBlast training was exhausting.  We started at 10:30 am with a Master Class and then went into the training and finished at 6:30, which was an hour before we were supposed to be finished and I was so glad to be done, I can't even tell you.  I could barely stand by the end of it.  I made the mistake of wearing new shoes and definitely paid the price.  Most of the time, new athletic shoes aren't awful to break in, but these are different than I have had.  Same brand (Asics), but a different sole.  I ordered them through Zappos and didn't see what the sole was until yesterday when I put them on.  Hopefully, they break in quickly.

I am not working out today because I had 9 hours of workout yesterday.  Probably not continuous, but we would learn the dance and then we would get up and do the routine--for 16 dances.

It's supposed to be miserably hot today--almost 100.  I'll try to remember this come January when we are below zero!

Have a great day all!

@Mmsfoxxie, you're doing great with WW!  Good job!! You even did pretty well at the picnic. I enjoyed reading about your fish. ☺ Yes, furkids are are a huge responsibility, both financially and in terms of time. I love dogs, but have cats because they are a little more flexible re: the amount of time they need. And you're right...many don't take that into consideration before choosing a pet.

@DrKelli I hope your feet recover.  I love my asics and have worn the same model for about 10 years...I don't know what I'll do if they're discontinued!

Did 2.9 mi/34.15 min on the treadmill

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Thread

Great morning, everyone.  Well I'm glad that everyone seems to have had a pleasant weekend although possibly painful ( @DrKelli).

My health center had a 'bring a friend' enrollment promotion yesterday and unless a lot of people came late in the day, it looked like a it flopped.  Sad because they had tactical courses set up and other special things.  Good for current members who don't want the place to be over run with people.  I don't like crowded exercise classes or locker rooms.  Bottom line is that they probably need more revenue.  Catch 22.

My hubby left for the airport this morning and I'll be along for a few days.  I'll miss him but.....no cooking!!  Yea!  Lol.  Normally if he's gone, I have my eat what and all I want days.  Drat...can't do that now.  No Culver's or Dairy Queen this time.  Those were my artificial hugs while alone.  Oh well. I'll survive.

Body & Sculpt, Flexibility and Zumba are my classes today.  Last time I saw this particular Zumba instructor, he was limping to his car.  I asked him was he ok and he mentioned that his knee was hurting again.  I remember the last time.  @DrKelli, I think your knees (hip?) bother you, too.  Seems to be an occupational hazard, isn't it.  One instructor, who seems fairly young, forties, has already had a knee replacement.  Be careful.

Have a a great day, ladies.
