Re: Welcome to the February Exercise Check In

Hi guys! I ran into our old neighbor from Puerto Rico at the exchange, talked for quite a while. That put me behind so I couldn't stop and get groceries, had to get home to let the Peanut out.

It was so nasty earlier, sleet, snow, and rain all at the same time...had a 2-hour delay after them being off all last week. Now it's turned to just snow so that's much easier to be out and about in. Post Office was packed and I had to wait because DH needs his civilian passport renewed. I forgot the dry-cleaner so should probably head back out...not sure if he needs this uniform for his Africa trip.

Class was tough but doable today! I was spent, but felt good after I caught my breath.{#emotions_dlg.thumbup1} I did much better on my squats and cleans than the last time we did them so it felt good seeing improvement. Seeing results is a good motivator...along with my pants fitting looser. Makes it all worth it...or easier to swallow anyway. My gf has really gained some definition so she's all in.

nomless...too funny about your cat game! Lucy let one of ours have it this morning first thing, I was snuggling and loving up with her after we woke up and one of the cats tried to love me up too...Lucy went after her like a house-a-fire. The cat just crouched down waiting for the attack. So, "Good-morning" to me after a horrible night's sleep.{#emotions_dlg.glare} Then I had to let Lucy have it....didn't phase her though.

bopper...glad you have something to look forward to! Stay warm! I'm going to hit the salts again.

Stay safe everyone!!

Re: Welcome to the February Exercise Check In

Hi, Cookie! We'd love to have you join in. New posters are always welcome. And yes, I, too, believe it's a friendly group. We have in common wanting to get some exercise most days of the week, but we're all all skill levels, so it doesn't matter what you do or how well you do it! I try to do both cardio and resistance training several times a week. You probably know we talk about other stuff going on in our lives, too.

Hi, Patty and Bopper and Tony and Future...haven't seen you for a while Future.

Patty, Lucy is a jealous little girl, what a pill. I know you'll make sure the kitties get some lovin' too.

Bopper, are you liking the other new DVDs you got?

I had to take my car in for recall work and an oil change today. While doing that, they found the battery is almost dead (I knew it would fail soon) so they replaced it. And I needed a tire rotation; while doing that, they found a tire was punctured. Oh, dang. I believe it happened last Thursday as I drove into my garage. I hit something in the drive that made a noticeable "pop" sound. I couldn't see anything in the tires, and I've been checking the pressure since then, so I thought I got off without any damage to the tire. Nope, I didn't. They repaired it, but are not sure the repair will last given the location of the puncture. Fingers crossed it will be OK. I'm ever so grateful that I didn't get stranded somewhere with a flat tire.

Need to get back to work. Have a good afternoon, everyone.

Re: Welcome to the February Exercise Check In

Jump on in, Cookie! Glad to have you! I know, Nomless, I've been slacking on posting. We have another busy week here, then should really super slow down -- I'm knocking on wood while I type that. Lol!! Let's see..... Worked out at home Monday and Tuesday last week. Did a circuit on Wednesday, and that was great!! Spin and abs on Thursday. Rest Friday (and a nice dinner where I ate too much!!!), and weights and spin Saturday. Woke up yesterday and felt bad most of the day -- allergies. Feel bad today, too. We've gotten about 4 inches or so of snow today. I was going to WO, but I am seriously so tired, you guys!! I took my meds, nasal spray, etc this am, but I just can't snap out of it. My throat hurts bad, too. I was initially worried about the flu, because it's going around here like wildfire, but since I had sore throat and drainage, I knew it was allergies----wish they would chill out, but the weather has been so bonkers here (freezing two days, 50/60s the next two, then repeat!), that they are in overdrive. Ok, I'm done complaining now. Smiley Wink I might hop on the Pilates machine in a bit, but I've got to get some laundry started! All of my scrub pants are dirty! Hope everyone is doing well and staying warm. Anyone else ready for SPRING???? I thought so!! Smiley Wink

Re: Welcome to the February Exercise Check In

Hi cookie! I am the w/o failure of the group. I am not good at being consistent about it. but my friends still let me hang around! Bopper- the race was Ok. I am glad Jimmie did not win but was not happy that Tony. He needed the year to start out in a good way. And I do feel bad for Kyle. He is a maniac but really good driver. Can't believe that there were no safer barriers there. I keep meaning to tell you- every February Boston has truck day. The Red Sox gear is loaded on a trailer truck and leaves from Fenway for Florida and spring training. it is a big deal- there's a big crowd of people waiting to wave bye to the truck. It's a big news story and everyone laughs cos they don't think it happens anywhere else. Nomless- good thing your car got checked out and fixed. Bopper is still lucky that nothing happened to her when her car had trouble. Patty- glad you took a day off. Crazy weather everywhere- I'm very glad it's not ice like elsewhere. Future- are you napping? Very sunny but still below zero- so looking forward to March!

Re: Welcome to the February Exercise Check In

Hi Cookie...welcome! We'd love to have you!

tony...it is crazy! We were 53* on Sunday, today we're windchill of 12* with snow on the way today and Thursday. The Kids are -10* below this morning and not windchill. Poor Texas was hit hard yesterday and they aren't used to that white stuff...terrible accidents all over the place.

FUTURE...I've been doing the nasal spray too. Stupid allergies!

nomless...I hope your tire patch holds up! Always something with vehicles. Yes, I love the kitties up and this one stares at us with daggers in her eyes...lol. She even growls at times. Believe me, we discipline her too, I can't imagine what she'd be like if we didn't...ay.

bopper...you're on the other page and if I go back, I'd lose this...haha! I'm sure you're cold again today.

I'm sore, those cleans catch up with your arms the next day even though you think it's mainly legs while you're doing them. But I felt my arms getting tired during the wod as I was pulling it up and flipping it under while trying to get my elbows out...lots to remember in one exercise! Even my biceps are sore...I guess it could be from the ring pull-ups too.

So today will be a run outside with Lucy and my treadmill. I need groceries and we have a walk-through of the house this afternoon.

Re: Welcome to the February Exercise Check In

What wonderful welcomes, thank you. I have been so bad about hopping on the treadmill this month. Ouch. So here I go, I am getting on the treadmill and going for it. This forum will be kind of like when you have to weigh in at Weight Watchers!!! Thanks girls.{#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Re: Welcome to the February Exercise Check In

I keep forgetting to tell you guys, my 81-yr old cousin is still going to the gym! {#emotions_dlg.thumbup} She's lost 3 lbs.

Go Cookie!

I have been running all day, had to fill out ANOTHER fraud report at the credit union because the one they did last time was the wrong one. I was in there getting tax stuff so I asked why we haven't seen the money yet...she looked into it and they told her it was the incorrect form. Um, was anyone going to call us and let us know!!?? Grrr!

I ran Lucy this morning, windchill was 12* so we only did 2 miles even though she was raring to go...I picked her up a couple of times too...she's just so tiny and her pads aren't very rough. She sure doesn't act like it phases her. Then I ran on my treadmill, showered and headed out....got groceries and went to TJMaxx HomeGoods. Got a cute dress for spring/summer.

I'm going to take her out for another mile, I have to leave for a walk-through in 20 minutes then we have a dinner tonight! Hope everyone is having a great day! It's snowing to beat the band here!!

Re: Welcome to the February Exercise Check In

Hi, everyone. Sunny day here, 45-ish. Snow tomorrow, LOL. Last night driving home I saw two flocks of ducks flying south, and another headed south today. Yikes...they're going the wrong way! I certainly don't understand why they were flying north in January and south now. I hope they know what they're doing!

Patty, it's so cool that your aunt goes to the gym. That's awesome. I'm so sorry you're still having problems re: the accounts. So frustrating.

Hi, Cookie, I'm happy to see you check back in. IMO, the hardest part of the workout is getting started....showing up and doing the first few steps is hardest. We'll help get you motivated!

Tony, yea for Boston truck day! That means baseball...and therefore spring...is right around the corner. Right, Bopper? I know you'll be sad for DS to leave.

Future, sorry the allergies are bugging you. I suppose they'll be with you for a while, too. So sorry.

I got home late last night so now workout. I'll do cardio tonight. Yesterday and today, I've been doing planks in my office (we have private offices, which is nice.). I close my door and do planks, LOL. I'll work on increasing the time I can hold a plank.

I have to take my car back for service tomorrow...something's not right. Oh, well.

ETA: I just found this on a site: Average fit ladies in their late 50’s and 60’s hold planks for 45 minutes.....are you kidding me? None of the ladies I know who are 50 or older could hold a plank for 45 minutes. I can't believe that 45 minutes is the average. Yikes, I have a long way to go!

Re: Welcome to the February Exercise Check In

Hey all, it finally warmed up to 29 here. It was like a heat wave! I did the treadmill this morning and 30 minutes on the Total Gym and walked Logan outside finally this afternoon. It's been so cold here I haven't had him out for very long.

Cookie great job on that treadmill, you can do this!

Pppmint Your getting that crazy weather with the up and down temps. Sorry about the tax stuff, how irritating that had to have been.

Nomless I like the new dvd's, or did I already say that haha

FUTURE good to see your check in...hope your week isn't as busy and you get some down time.

Tony are you glad were back to racing? I am waiting on the baseball to start!

Snowing here now, was sunny earlier.

Waving to all!
