My husband is 84 still on top of things, mentally

He was recently told by his doctor that he is losing strength in his legs...which was a bit of a surprise as he works every day, sometimes it is a physical job.  The doctor suggested 1 lb weights on his legs when he rides the stationary bike.

He went to the Ortho doctor because of recent diagnosis of arthritis in his hip, but his knee hurts....DH asked for an xray but the doctor declined...I picked up a knee brace for him to wear, if that does not help, I think we will look for another doctor.

What is the harm in taking an x-ray?

My grandma lived to 104....lived alone up until the last 6 months of her life! She took no medication.

She did lose the use of her legs at the very end.  I hope I got her genes...all her kids died 15+years before she died.

@Mom2Dogs 🤗

I believe it!! I think A LOT has to do with medications.

My husband’s chiropractor told him about a 104 yr old woman he knows the family of was placed in hospice last year.

They took her off ALL her meds and she gradually got better and better and was released from hospice care!

I did not make up weak body weak mind. 🥴

I receive emails from reputable health & wellness sites and this is what research is showing. Google it.

I was just wondering if anyone here has seen the connection that health professionals are saying to be a meaningful warning sign. 😔

@RescueLover But it simply doesn't fit.  It's like sayin all people who are tall have week minds.  It leads to making assumptions about someone because of the way they look.  And assuming a weak mind by looking at someone's physical health is simply wrong.

It's research.  Doesn't mean anything. No more than saying thin girls are smarter. Overweight girls aren't as smart.  Etc.

I have a weak body due to medical issues but I am as sharp as I ever was

Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and start being positive what could go right.

@Sooner

I see where you’re coming from but

They actually measure muscle mass on individuals. 🤓

I’ve had my muscle mass and strength measured at PT before.

“Weak mind” is not a kind phrase to use.
