Re: We're In A State Of Emergency

I am so sorry that you are going though this. How horrible. I will pray to saint Jude for you and all the people who live in West Virginia. And meanwhile take care.

Re: We're In A State Of Emergency

Mary Bailey, thank you so much for the prayers. I too hope this is cleaned up quick but it's not sounding good. They don't even have anything to test this chemical with...uggh.

RickyRocky, Thank you for the prayers and to your local Matthew 25 ministries. We are very much appreciative of any support we are getting.

KonaKat, Everyone is looking for water around here. It's coming in but as predicted it's limited right now. Water tanks require people to have containers to get it in but that's a problem as well since people don't have the containers to put it in. Thank you for your support.

Pink56, We did have snow but now it's rain so the snow is pretty much gone. I used baby wipes this morning for a shower, I will have to get the dry shampoo. I can't stand my nasty hair right now...uggh. I have the hand wipes. Thanks for the advice on the other things such as popsicles, grapes, etc. I have meat from the deli to fix sandwiches with and we are going to get some tv dinners as well. It's amazing what you think of in situations like this. Thanks for your support.

Englishrose, thank you for all your great suggestions! We will definitely be keep a good water supply on hand from now on once this is over with.

lacey1, I know what you mean about housing chemical so close to our water supply. I didn't even know about this place. I worry about the animals too as I'm an avid animal lover too. We melted ice to give to our babies last night. I'm glad it's raining today. Hubby put notes on our spigots so we wouldn't forget. Someone posted on FB that she brushed her teeth with diet Pepsi this morning ....uggh.

sciencegeek, Thank you for your prayers.

JB, Thank you for your prayers

Krimpette, Thank you for your prayers. There are town who aren't on the same water supply that we're on opening doors for people to shower. It's far away though and I can imagine the line. I sure hope it doesn't take weeks. We are hearing that it could take days but they really don't know. Thanks for the hugs ..we need them.

oceanjade, Thank you for the suggestions as well. Yeah, we can't even boil the water here. It's bad but hopefully this will all be over soon. Wishful thinking though on my part.

Re: We're In A State Of Emergency

I saw the news reports this morning and will pray for West Virginia. I hope they can get the chemical spill cleaned up very soon. All the water in the world but you can't use it at all; this is a very scary predicament and I am sure makes everyone feel extremely vulnerable.

Thank you Oceanview! Thank you too for sharing your daily devotion as well. I love reading those and you are right.... it is so fitting. This morning I am getting cleaned up with baby wipes. Better than nothing so it will have to do. This leak has effected nine different countines. So many, so sad.

Baby wipes, thank goodness for those huh? I hope you have the baby scented ones so you will feel more comforted and coddled during this time.

Someone mentioned Matthew 25 Ministries were on their way with water. If I am not mistaken, they come out of Cincinnati, Ohio and I have heard nothing but wonderful things about these people. And it shouldn't take too long for them to get there due to both of your locations.

If it is not to much to ask, please keep us updated. God Bless!

Yep, smelling all adorable this morning with those baby wipes. Glad someone hasn't wanted to pinch my cheeks yet. That's is wonderful news about Matthew 25 Ministries! I haven't heard of them personally. I will definitely keep everyone updated on what we hear on this end.

Re: We're In A State Of Emergency

luvboyds,

Is there a creek or clean enough type of pond close by you? If so, you can get some containers or buckets and scoop up water to use for flushing. And if you get any rain and you have gutters you can also fill up containers pretty fast depending on how hard the rain is coming down. Of course, then let it boil for at least 10 minutes to use for drinking water. If you have a lot of snow you to can scoop it up, heat it up to melt it and use for flushing to. You can probably drink it too if the snow isn't the top layer sitting around for days or getting contaminated by road chemicals. Just some ideas.

Hugs to you. (((())))))

Re: We're In A State Of Emergency

Thanks Oceanview! We did have snow but the rain that came melted it and now it has stopped raining. It might rain tomorrow though so I will put out some buckets. They say we can flush but that's it. At least we can do that much. We did hear that they were turning off the water completely and someone said to fill up the bathtubs to flush but then that was just someone being stupid with all this and they said it was false. People shouldn't be doing things like this especially with elderly people.

Re: We're In A State Of Emergency

Prayers that no one has had their health compromised because of this disaster, and that answers and solutions will come forward quickly.

For those reading and not affected by this particular disaster, please be more aware of just how important water storage for emergencies really is. Everyone should have water in storage, and there are lots of web sites to give you ideas of how to do it to suit your lifestyle and storage capacities.

We have experienced sub zero temps this week, and many in our area had pipes freeze and no access to water for several days, and at a time when going out to get some, even just next door, was dangerous. Lack of safe water can happen under many conditions, and having some on hand should be as natural as having car insurance, house insurance or life insurance (just cheaper!) It is just a little insurance to help get you through a rough time.
