@Luvsmyfam    Not sure if I touched on this subject with you but I did with someone here in great lengths.

Meniere's Disease.

Go to an ENT, regular doctors don't know much of anything about this as far as treatments.

I went through this years ago.

If you get a knowledgeable physician, he will know what to do and how to treat it.

I wasted so much time going to this one and that one, by the time I went to one who knew of this, it was too late and all that could be done for me was the surgery.

Since then, I must watch my sodium intake and I take diazepam daily which helps the fluid inside the ear drum, in back of  the drum, where the little hairlike follicles are what can cause the dizziness, which the motion of the fluid going back and forth can cause the dizziness.

You really have to have a specialist look at you ,

I hope this info will help you.

I finally ended up at Yale New Haven Hospital in Ct...

Make sure you get an audiologist to test your hearing too, that can tell a great deal.

They told me that it comes from a virus, no cure but it can be managed.

Its worth a shot.

Take care,

I suffer from positional vertigo as well. On and off. Never thought of drinking more water and being hydrated. Thanks for the advice on that one.

There are various exercises, like staring across the room at an object.  A vase, or any object.  (One of a relative's PT suggestions, years ago).

Also, just thinking and wondering if heavily impacted ear wax might cause the imbalance in equilibrium=eardrum, and/or fluid?

Regardless, a visit to an ENT doctor will be beneficial.  Also, he/she might suggest/refer a good physical therapist specializing in Vertigo dizziness, etc.

The best of luck to you and all of us, too.  I've heard it's a  fairly common complaint/concern in our age group.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

I get vertigo really bad.  I just have to lay down and not even move an inch. It gets so bad that I can't lift my head, open my eyes or use the restroom. It is horrible and sometimes comes on suddenly with no warning. It lasts for hours.

If I feel it coming on, I take BONINE.  I always carry that drug with me.

When I was a child, I could not ride in a car or bus.... after a block or two, I was throwing up. I get motion sickness too.

Hershey Med Center located near me has a program for those who experience severe vertigo, but Medicare won't cover it, so I won't go.

My heart goes out to anyone who suffers from this. I wish I had the perfect solution.

@Luvsmyfam  It's very disconcerting, isn't it? I went to get out of bed one morning probably 17 yrs ago and the room started spinning! I was fine as long as I was upright but it was scary when I would lay down or get up. Mine lasted 3 months and then one day it just went away. I never took anything for it and have not had it since. Take care.

@Luvsmyfam

Straight Forward Questions. Answer if you wish.

1)Blood Pressure Numbers?

2)Blood Drawn?

3)Doctor's Diagnosis?

4)Name of Prescription?

4)Date of followup visit?

I'm another one who has it. Last time I had it was a few years ago. I was in the ER and the doctor told me he had seven Vertigo patients in the ER right now!!!! I remember it was August. I thought maybe it was seasonal? (this time it got me in October) They did the Epley maneuver on me but it made it worse. And I was just starting to feel better. Wrong ear, maybe, as I see reading these remarks. So right now I'm better this time but it's been weeks. I haven't gone to the ER or any doctor this time. I still have the prescriptions they gave me-the nausea was terrible. I won't take them they make me feel awful. I already felt awful! So here I sit waiting for it to die completely-I'm almost there. Not going to church because if I look up or down, it comes on me still. I suspect it's stemming from my neck positions, not my ear/ears. Misery loves company. This is all good to know.

@Luvsmyfam   I had one of my team members experience vertigo a few weeks ago, and his doctor told him his potassium levels were low.

Sounds ridiculous, but eat a banana - it may help.

There are several articles regarding potassium and vertigo online if interested.

I started taking electrolytes which have potassium as well as eating more bananas and avocados which are high in potassium too.

Just seeing the word Vertigo makes me anxious. In 2015 out of nowhere I was taken over by vertigo/balance issues. I had to hold onto something like a cane or walk as close to the wall as I could for stability. My vision was affected as well. After numerous Neurological tests & Dr's it took me saying "When I park my car, I still feel like the ground is moving beneath me" for him to say oh, ok here's who you need to see. He sent me to a Neuro Optometrist who diagnosed me w/ motion induced disequilibrium, convergence insufficiency & focal seizures. He also said my eyes are picking up the flickering of fluorescent lighting where normally they aren't. I was told I could no longer work on computers bc this would create these "seizures" over & over. When I say I was devastated, I mean devastated! I'd been at my job (HR Mgr for DirecTv) for over 25+ yrs and within 4 weeks of appts I was out. My glasses were given a blue tint for blocking issues and my peripheral vision was trying to take over. I was advised to apply for Disability which I did in Jan of 2015. I was approved in Aug 2015 & I'm still on it at 58yrs old. If you have access to Neuro Optometrists maybe look one up? They do way more testing for Vertigo & things of that nature and you may find out more. I'm on a anti-seizure medication & I've not had a flare up in 4 or 5yrs but the fear is still in me. Sorry I've rambled on as I said, I saw the word Vertigo and my anxiety paid me a visit.
