Wow thank you for all the suggestions and input. I am going to take this round of antibiotics and try some supplements &/or cranberry juice. Next time I go to the Dr. I will bring up the possibility of type 2 diabetes. I am on medication for metabolic syndrome. I take hormones via the patch and have been for years. I 100% do not drink enough water. The whole UTI thing has just come about in the last 2 years. If I have another problem I am going to go see a urologist I guess. I am going to try some of these preventative measures though. Thank you all so much.

See a urologist.    They will culture your speciman, you may need a different antibiotic.   Don't fool with this and don't bring up diabetes.   Doctors don't like it when you diagnose yourself.    if this is a chronic condition for you, you need a better work-up

Cranberry juice lowers the pH of the urine as generally the more acidic the urine the less likely bacteria can thrive in that environment.  Keep hydrated.  Some basic hygiene can help, voiding before and after sex, partner taking a shower beforehand and clean hands as well. Good air circulation as bacteria love dark, warm, moist environments.  Going to the bathroom when you need to and not procrastinating.

I wish you the best as I too have been there, done that.

Please look up D -mannos

it is a great option to treat and prevent UTIs

for me - it worked  better than any cranberry juice or cranberry supplement

It is also used in Third World countries where they can't afford antibiotics as treatment for UTI

Also they make specific probiotics for urinary tract and feminine health

Used in combination they are very effective

good luck 🍀

Estrogen cream..the local kind (not pills) helps too! Apply locally according to directions. Of course this requires a prescription. The loss of estrogen is why we are more prone to uti's after menopause.

That's true, also Type 2 contributes to repeated UTI's...and other illnesses.  Everyone knows that a person who gets repeated UTI's should see a doctor...pronto.

Many good Drs are not "up " on effective natural remedies as they are trained to treat everything with pharmaceuticals

I went to many good ones and got the best relief and  prevention going forward from D- mannose   Which I read about in one of Suzanne Somers books

Probiotic at night along with cranberry and DMannose supplements taken twice daily. Eat plain Greek yogurt , avoid sugary drinks and drink lots of water .

Our nursing home residents take cranberry extract supplements daily if they are pron to UTIs. The supplements are better than the juice.

I had 3 in a row at one point and my gyn sent me for a pelvic ultrasound to rule out anything else before sending me to a urologist.

It was definitely a pH problem for me.  She had me start on RepHresh every 3 days.  I use it once a week now for maintenance of pH plus the cranberry extract and friendly flora.
