I already have two or three implants in my mouth...and have been very pleased with them.
The implant (molar) that is in front of the two abscessed teeth is unaffected. So very glad for that implant!

Sending you postive thoughts for a speedy process and recovery!
I had a tooth extracted several years ago and afterwards realized I wish I had done it sooner.

@LTT1 Are you getting "put to sleep" or just "numbed" in that area. I had a tooth pulled 2 weeks ago and I chose to be "knocked" out. Very easy. Walked out of there, no pain, nothing. There are things you can't do for a while. Eating very cold and hot is one of them. Someone stated to eat soup..can't do that for a few days. You might need a stitch or two. I had one and it was dissolving, so no problem there. Since you stated you have an infection I hope you have been on some type of antibiotic. If so you will probably be asked to continue it. You will get through this. It sounds worse than it usually is.

I predict that you will be jumping with joy to get rid of that rotten tooth!
I suggest you get a box of ice cream sandwiches on your way home from the dentist and celebrate!
Wishing you the best of luck. di

Thank you so much for these suggestions!
I will order some groceries today for more soft foods/soups, etc.
Anything that was hard to chew seemed to set off the pain.
The amoxicillin has begun to work as of yesterday ...today was my last pill.
Fingers crossed that the pain doesn't start up again.
You were lucky you had so much trust in your dentist. I'm new to this area so going in blindly...but it must be done!
I can sure relate to "just wanting this tooth (teeth) out". My teeth have always been problematic.... ouch!
I've had many teeth extractions which also included root canals and implants for each one.
Since you're taking Amoxicillin be sure to drink plenty of liquids, it causes constipation.
Good luck, I'm positive you're in good hands.

More than likely they will give you an antiobiotic. I think they do a good job of numbing the area so you may only feel some pressure. Good luck @LTT1

@LTT1 Happy you are going in for your extraction and hope all goes well for you.
Yes as others indicated you will feel pressure and hear what we used to tell our patients "snap crackle pop" then the tooth should be out! You should be fine, the anesthetic will most likely be the most you will feel. Remember these dentists do these procedures everyday, they are good at it. I think I mentioned to you prior I was a certified dental assistant for 30 years Best of luck and follow your post instructions carefully!

I have had 2, and I can easily say both were a piece of cake, no pain before, during or after, one had very minimal bleeding after, other had no bleeding. Takes a total of just a few minutes and job is done!! My DH had same experience as me. One was way in back so that was left alone, other more in front, went for a very pricey implant after. Dont worry.

I've had about every dental procedure known to mankind (except implants). All I can say is, thank goodness for modern dentistry!!!
Good luck tomorrow, it will soon be over and done with and you'll be so relieved!
