@Mom2Dogs  Did he have Covid recently? Some people get very stuffed up and it can linger for months

@Janey2   No, he did not have covid....the plugged ears came from mowing the yard a month or so ago...he remembers when it happened.

No, to sleeping pills.  However, I do take my magnesium supplement at night.  It's supposed to help one relax.  I don't have a problem falling asleep.  Sleeping the entire night is another story.

I take a magnesium supp. It's not exactly a sleep aid but it helps relax the mind and body so falling and staying asleep is better. Magnesium is one of the minerals that can actually cross the blood-brain barrier.

@SilleeMee , have you ever tried the magnesium sprays or creams I've been seeing on social media?  They sound like something that would help me, but I'm susceptible to vivid dreams which seems to be a potential side effect.   For whatever reason, the vivid dream thing makes me very anxious when I wake up.  🤷🏻‍♀️

The only magnesium sprays and creams I'm aware of are the ones for sore muscles.

Hi @Mom2Dogs

I have a somewhat different take.  My husband had the same issue but he used Arm & Hammer Simply Saline Nasal Care spray--pretty cheap.  It made his nose run like crazy but it helped his ears.  He really alleviated the pressure in his head. My husband has bad allergies too and is unable to take a lot of OTC meds due to medical issues.

For myself for sleep, I use a magnesium supplement and I also take a tulsi (holybasil) supplement.  I hope your husband finds relief soon.

The doctor prescribed doxepin, hopefully it helps.

He also mentioned this was his only/last choice and if it does not work - he suggested a sleep study or therapist.

My husband occasionally takes the Walmart brand Equate sleep aid in the white bottle. They're only around five dollars if you want to give them a try.

@colliemom4 Is it just called sleep aid?  Thanks.
