Wondering about your DH….

It’s possible it’s something anatomical. Pinched nerve or something in the curvature of his neck. I ask because I know of several cases, one including my mom.

A friend tinnitus. Mom a roaring muffled sound. In both cases the neck vertebrae and ligaments were slightly collapsed, cutting proper nerve conduction (and also blood supply). Both were corrected with exercises and my mom also made use of a chiropractor. The primary culprit was ligaments not keeping proper cervical alignment.

I've been taking 500 mg of ashwagandha.  It took about three days for it to really work for me.  There isn't a medicine hangover for me either.

Hi! @Mom2Dogs 🤗

I was having problems with my ears due to mowed grass and environmental allergies too. And I was not sleeping well either.

Someone recommended an air purifier and it totally cleared my ears and I sleep like a baby!! We have one running during the day and another running in the bedroom at night.

I had gone to my Primary Dr couple times who referred me to an ENT. I went 2 times to him and he could not figure out why my ears were bothering me. He mentioned stress too. The only thing I was stressed about was lack of sleep!! He ran every test and could not find anything wrong. So my Primary referred me to another ENT who thought it was allergies. Suggested various antihistamines, but they did nothing for my ears.

I don’t know about your husband, but my ears would either hurt really bad or itch. 😳

FINALLY ONLY running air purifiers worked for me!!

I just bought another one from the Q that I really like it’s made by Bionaire and is currently on sale for $39.98. We have the same unit in our living room and a Hunter in our Family room and bedroom. I ordered this Bionaire as a back up. I won’t be without.

Even my husband and family are believers in air purifiers now, because they know how much I was suffering with ear problems!

I hope your husband gets some relief. I know what he is going through. It was constantly on my mind. And it was Awful!! Please give an air purifier a try. I’m so Thankful I did!!! 🤗🤗🤗

@SilleeMee   Do you have a brand you can recommend?  I know you do a lot of research on supplements.  How many mg is recommended dose?

I don't really have a rec for magnesium. I take magnesium glycinate in loose powder form, about 1/4-tsp twice daily. I don't remember how many mg that comes out to be but it's somewhere around 700mg total. That's a high dose but I have osteoporosis plus I'm on bone density drugs (Evenity and Prolia). Most people don't need that much. Capsules in 200 to 400mg range of magnesium glycinate is good for most people. What you body needs depends a lot on what you eat. If you eat food rich in magnesium then you need less supplementation. It's a logical plan.

Hi again ! @Mom2Dogs 🤗

I wanted to mention even though my main complaint was my ears feeling plugged the 2 hearing tests I had at each ENT’s office showed my hearing in both ears was Good! So thankfully the problem doesn’t effect hearing.

And as for sleep back then, I did try natural melatonin, but even though I took 1/2 it made me feel sleepy the next day too. I didn’t like that feeling.

I had better luck drinking 100% Tart Cherry juice before bed for sleep.

Thank you @SilleeMee.  I eat fairly well, but I was possibly thinking to try it for sleep.  I usually can get to sleep, I usually cannot STAY asleep.  I typically wake up at 4-5 hours and sometimes can fall back to sleep, some days, I can't.  I try to get 6.5 per night, but does not always happen.   I don't take any other medication.  Just a couple supplements.  A multi, fish oil and zinc.

Oh, this sounds horrible and I am sorry your husband, and you, are going through this. I just wanted to say that sleeping pills are a big no no for older adults. Due to risks of falls and grogginess. The sleep aids that people have given photos of are actually old antihistimines and also a no no for seniors.

Have him try a half dose of Allegra in the morning instead of what he is taking, might have less anxiety on that one. Some antihistimines have a pepping up affect like Claritan. So get the 12 hour version of Allegra and take early on. I get the kids version of the liquid and take half a dose.

Also, he could try 1 mg only of melatonin. You would need to order from Amazon or go to a health food grocery store. Most drug stores sell melatonin in way too high of a dose. Even 5 mg is too high of a dose.

Lastly, plain old mucinex is great and sudafed to open up the sinuses. Once again, get the liquid 4 hour mucinex or tablets. Don't get the 12 hour sudafed. The mucinex is 12 hour, get the plain without any other drugs added to it.

I use a product called Deep Sleep and take 1 mg Source Naturals melatonin. You take one Deep Sleep with the melatonin one hour before bed. Then take the other softgel Deep Sleep right before you get into the covers.

He just needs to be careful. Sleep aids and seniors is a bad combination and doctors are encouraged not to prescribe them.

Detachment isn't the absence of love but the ability to take care of yourself in the midst of someone else's choices.

@Growing   Thank you for that information, since the Claritin is not working I will mention the Allegria to him.  If the plugged ears would clear up, his  anxiety would go away....his symptoms did not start until the ears got plugged.

I find the other information you posted interesting, I will mention that to him as well.  It has been a stressful month+.

I did mention to him about the sleeping pills and falling, he is older and gets up a few times in the night sometimes to use the bathroom....the bathroom is attached to the master but he could still fall.
