@151949  My insurance paid for 100% of the shingles shot.  It's a vaccine; a preventative treatment under Medicare/BC-BS.

So what? Had I already met my deductible mine would have as well - but I do have a deductible on tier 4 . Was yours zostravax or the shingrix?

I had the old shot but have been trying to get the new ones.  I keep hearing CVS hasn't gotten any!

I was picking up a Rx at Costco's pharmacy yesterday & asked about the Shingrix vaccine & the pharmacist told me it's backordered for the whole country, but that might mean just for the Costco Pharmacies.

I had no problem getting it at Publix a couple weeks ago. As a matter of fact they had big posters up by the pharmacy saying it was available.

It has been in high demand and it has been backordered--out of stock.  One of my best friends "sells"this vaccine to Dr's.  She's told me about the demand!

My PCP suggested I get Shingrix. Their office has the vaccine in stock, so I'll have them administer the injections.

@Drythe  There is a new shingles shot out now; much more reliable. A ten-year old shot needs to be re-done anyway. Talk to your Physician and have another shot provided soon; then you'll need the second within six months. The vaccines are in short supply; you may need to be placed on a waiting list. Good luck.

My husband and I got our second dose of the Shingrix vaccine yesterday. We both had a  minor reaction to the first dose. Our arms were in pain for about 2 days. Today, my arm hurts again but my husband feels like he has the flu. No temp, just really achy, lightheaded and tired. So, just wanted to let everyone know, that the side effects can vary. Stay well.

I think under the circumstances, your pharmacist did the right thing

DH and I went to Walgreens today to pick up a prescription, each got the flu shot and got on the waiting list for the Shingrix vaccine. First come, first served.

Since DH got a Shingles vaccine in 2014, she advised him to get the new one.
