Re: Question for Weight Watcher's Members

Sounds like a good plan, Vivian. I'm finding that I don't eat until I'm stuffed like I can do, but about 20-30 minutes later, I feel very satisfied because my blood sugar goes up when the food finally starts digesting.

Re: Question for Weight Watcher's Members

This is my second day back on plan. I'm taking it one day at a time. I'm doing WW Points Plus. Simple Start seems like too much food for me to lose any weight. I'm a Lifetime Member and had lost 41 lbs. and have gained at least 20 of them back. All of my small jeans that I bought last year are now too small. I reached my goal last year on January 20th. This summer, I began falling off the wagon. I think I'm in a good place emotionally to do it now.

Re: Question for Weight Watcher's Members

I also have been on weight watchers on and off for the past six years. I have lost and gained back 20 lbs. twice. The program does work and I have acquired healthier eating habits however I get disgusted with the cost and the meetings. I feel the meetings are too structured and repeat the same topics over and over. I think they should gear the meetings more to what the members want or need to talk about. I think most of us over eat due to emotional or stress reasons. Also, handing out stars and other silly items is a waste in my opinion. I think they should hand out coupons for food or free meetings. I definitely need to find another way to lose-I am going to try more exercise.

I had to laugh with you writing what you did. I'm not for all that silly stuff either but believe it or not, it does "drive" some women...certainly not me.

The cost is high, I think I'm about $42 a month or something like that. I like the idea of a coupon for food or not sure how they would do free meetings since I'm monthly but that's another good idea. I would seriously tell that to all in the meetings and you'll be surprised as to how many others believe the same as you.

Meetings keep me intact, even the life members I sit next to come every week, they need to be accountable. The life members that are my "meeting buddies" lost a lot of weight, I just can't imagine what they looked like when I heard how much they weighed.

I was going on Sundays then returned and sat in a meeting where she had us all move and meet someone else on the other side of the room. I guess that's sort of good but it sure took me outside my comfort zone and returned to the Saturday meetings. I'm there for information, my leader told me I have all the tools already to do this so anything else is just a bonus. She was referring to myself as the "tools", there is no magic, no master plan, just myself to monitor and control what I do and when I eat...sounds basic so why isn't it.

Anyway, good luck to you...feel your pain.

Murphsmom, you might try Myfitnesspal.com. It is free. My friend started it a year ago. I signed up for it a year ago and never did it. I just started actually using the site this month. At first it is confusing, even though everyone says it is really easy. After you get all the foods you normally eat entered, it is easy.

Best of all, it's free. It is more than just a calorie tracker. It also tracks other nutrients too.

I really like it now.

Re: Question for Weight Watcher's Members

I notice WW goes back and forth with the meeting bling. They have the research, so they probably know it works for many to get stickers, magnets and key chains and charms.

I noticed that you now get a key chain (not a 10% key chain) after 4 weeks. They were finding that people were getting all kinds of charms but no key chain to put it on because some people do not make their 10% for a while but they hit their 16 weeks and get the charm.

So you get a key ring at 4 weeks (which I think is nicer than the 10% key ring, of which I have like 5) and then the series of charms.

I'm sorry the did away with the refrigerator magnets. I gave my 25, 50 and 75 lb magnets to people in my meetings who really wanted them when they hit their milestones. I just kept mine in my WW case that we got with one of the programs years ago.

Now that meeting materials are written by WW and the leaders no longer make their own charts, it's less hokey and I think we stay on topic more.

WW has gotten away from the Tools for Living which I felt were a huge part of the program. But what do I know.

Re: Question for Weight Watcher's Members

I enjoy the meetings, and like getting ideas from the leader and other members. I don't focus on the sticker, charms etc.
