Kachina is correct. My physician told me the same thing. Do not supplement potassium unless you are under the care of a physician. This is especially true if you take certain ARB's (types of Blood Pressure meds).
Always, get your bloodwork done and discuss these findings with your physician. If you take any of these Antigoen Receptor Blockers for blood pressure do not use a salt substitute either.

This is correct. Be careful @Mom in NY . If you are getting enough then you need to find another way to help your arthritis. Perhaps Calcium + D.
In any event, speak with your doctor. The last thing you need is heart problems. The wrong doses of potassium can affect your heart's rythym.

Pinto beans and baked potatoes also have a lot of potassium. I took K tabs 500 mg prescription for a few years...then my K blood level stayed up so dr just said to eat potassium-rich foods.

Didn't your doctor recommend a brand when he or she told you to take them? They are otc but you ask the pharmacist for a good brand.

Thanks for everyone's input. My serum level of potassium is normal. I just want to see if supplement can help arthritis
@Mom in NY- Your potassium levels are normal, too much can effect your kidney function.
Potassium won't help arthritis. Try turmeric or tart cherry juice to assist with arthritis.

I've always understood that potassium and sodium work in opposition to each other, with too much potassium causing a cellular sodium loss and vice versa.
My only medication is a blood pressure pill and I'm told NOT to increase potassium intake and NOT to restrict my intake of sodium.. My blood tests for years have measured a slight deficiency in sodium.
Best to consult with a doctor before playing around with your electrolyte balance and get blood levels tested periodically, especially if on prescription drugs.
