I rarely ever have sugar cravings anymore, but if I get to wanting a desert, I have an Atkins shake or an Atkins bar of some sort. They are really delicious and they are extremely satisfying.

The shake idea may work.

No Atkins though, we do not do artificial sweeteners and I try to limit soy.

I have some flaxseed milk and cocoa nibs with a few other ingredients I can whip up a shake.

I have to agree Golden I never missed carbs or sugar before when I was eating a vegetable rich no processed food diet. It has been about 8 years for us, the elimination of the vegetables really has thrown me.

Sorry if I missed it ..... just why did you have to stop eating vegetables?

Re: My new diet has solved many problems but created some new issues

I have been watching grains & sugar for years. Have you tried making a muffin with almond flour and/or ground flax? I just had one tonight. I make it in the microwave, but you could make a few and bake in the oven if you prefer. There are probably many different recipes on-line. I usually use a generous teaspoon coconut oil, 2 tablespoons ground flax, 2 tablespoons almond flour, 1 egg, 1/2 teaspoon aluminum-free baking powder, 1 packet NuStevia brand stevia, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (I use ceylon cinnamon), a little vanilla. I stir together in a large mug and microwave about 70 seconds (our microwave it not the most powerful).

You can make unlimited variations on the recipe, adding a few berries, a little chopped apple, cocoa, etc.

I SO wish that were true for me, but unfortunately, second after my cravings for anything sugar is my AWFUL craving for cheese! I have been known, not kidding here, to eat a large bowl of slightly heated Parmesan. WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT AND WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENT METABOLISMS AND CRAVING TRIGGERS!!!!! There, I said it again and I mean it. MOST nutritionists that I've known (a lot) have a favorite mode of treatment, and expect their clients to conform to it. That did't work AT ALL for me, so I had to find out by trial and error. Relief from cravings is a blessing that is impossible for me to describe. I binge-crave-binge-crave-binged every single day for DECADES. Hi oceantown!!!!!!!

Re: My new diet has solved many problems but created some new issues

I've quit a lot of things and have had "kickback" on almost all of them, including smoking. It is more a mental than a physical issue, unless your body is not getting all the nutrients needed to function properly. I would like to assume that if you are working with a dietician or nutritionist that this would not be the reason.

My suggestion is to deal with it like you do any other craving that you quit for whatever reason. I use different mental methods of dealing with things that "I think" I might want, but I really do not need them.

Sure, this is easy for me to say, but it was not quite as easy as the above words for me to do. Like most anything in life someone truly wants to accomplish? I would rather have them be harder as opposed to easier. To me in the end it is "mind over matter" if it is not something your body is lacking to function at 100 percent.

Did you have to eliminate all veggies or just certain ones?
