Children have to be immunized. That is the hard truth. I've heard this probiotic argument from one of my daycare parents who didn't get their children immunized. Well, now here at ground zero of the measle outbreak, we'll see what happens.
This. We already HAD a solution to measles and people chose to ignore it. They were too ignorant to realize that they do this not only at their own peril, but at the peril of others. This isn't about vitamins and probiotics, it's about vaccines. It's also people who believe ANYTHING because we've become a nation of people who think that science and education are elitist, that anyone who can use Google is some kind of an expert, and that all opinions and ideas should be treated equally. Nope. We do not need to give equal time or credibility to scientists AND to people who think that lizard people secretly control the world.
That made me laughI agree with you both, you're right.

My paternal grandarents were both left deaf after measles with a secondary infection. My grandfather was doubly burdened, as he had also suffered from polio. I'm sure that they would have welcomed immunizations with open arms. I am grateful for modern medicine, pasteurized milk, etc. By the way, the effects of this deafness still reverberate in the present generation--nothing happens in a vacuum. I am a registered nurse, a mother, and an IMMUNIZER. Oh, and let's not forget the horrors of fetal defects due to their mothers having been exposed to rubella during pregnancy.

That gave me a smile, too.
It's good to lighten the mood a bit, isn't it? Seeing the new cases show up is so sobering.

Yes, in Cook County which takes in ALL of Chicago and many surrounding suburbs. I am from Chicago and even though I am currently in Az. for the winter, I get the local newspaper on-line.

They did not get any of their younger 3 vaccinated. If someone honestly thinks that the shots could cause autism, I can understand trying to protect the rest of your children and taking their chances by avoiding the shots.
I honestly think the moon is made of green cheese.
There is no scientific proof that vaccines cause autism. But unvaccinated kids DO die from measles, mumps, whooping cough, etc.
terrier is correct, there is no study that shows a connection between vaccines and autism.
Sure, a kid can get a vaccine and later have autism. No connection. A kid can also have ice cream and later be diagnosed with autism. Or a candy bar, or a baked potato. That does not mean cause and effect.
I am far from an expert and do not know enough to defend either position. But I will say that if there were a study that linked vaccines to autism, do you think the public would even hear about it? Can you imagine the lawsuits? I think the medical community and/or the government would do anything and everything to keep that information from coming out. Not a conspiracy theorist, I just do not trust all those in charge.
