Six people in the SF Bay Area have come down with the measles.  The first man caught it overseas in a country where it is prevalent.

None of the six people had been vaccinated. I hope none of them had been around babies or anyone with a weakened immune system.

That lying  Dr has a lot to answer for. Every time someone gets  one of the diseases ,that vaccines can protect people from ,his name should be printed ,so everyone knows who started this mess....the anti vaxers not only hurt their children, they are subjecting them to all sorts of other health problems ,over something that isn't even true

@cherry

I understand what you are saying but there are people who are vaccinated to diseases and are not protected.

I have had both pneumonia shots and yet my body has not developed the immunity I have to have both shots again and wait to see if I am immune

Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and start being positive what could go right.

More important - hope & pray they have not exposed anyone who is pregnant & not immune. Measels cause terrible birth defects.

Totally agree, to not have children vaccinated is criminal. I remember having the measles, I was quite sick, my eyes couldn’t stand light etc.

Do these “ knowledgeable “ people remember measles.

In 30% of cases there are complications: inflammation of the brain, blindness etc.

I am not referring to the few who get the vaccine and still get the measles.

As us Boomers get old(er) some of us (while still have SOME immunity) don't have as much as we used to.

I have IGG which means I don't have much immunity...period.  I have to get transfusions that boost my immunity.

People who don't get the required shots for their children are my worst nightmare!

Here's what I think ..... I think if they don't want to get the required shots then they should be REQUIRED to not interact with any of the public.  They should be made to be home-schooled and not be around society at all.

Why should the public have to risk their/our health just because they or their parents are ignorant?

People are in our country who have not,or dont want to get vaccinations; part of living in an open society.

Yes, it puts many others at risk, especially the elderly and expectant mothers.

The most you can do is know your health issues and act accordingly.

Public schools in some regions of the country are having to deal with exposure to tuberculosis-terrifying prospect for everyone.

The pneumoina vaccines protect against various types of pheumonia, you can still deveop pneumonia when ill from something like the flu.

We need the vaccine because:

There are two vaccines for pneumonia that protect against different types of the infection. PCV13 helps protect people from 13 of the most severe types of bacteria that cause pneumonia. PPSV23 protects against an additional 23 types of pneumonia bacteria.Dec 11, 2016

I doubt we well ever be IMMUNE to all forms of pneumonia.  Just look how many types there are already.

Science does the best it can but we can't control those who refuse vaccines, we can stay away from them, but who knows who they are or what they have handled in public or coughed on us.
