It did absolutely nothing for me.

Yes, absolutely true. I've taken melatonin a few times, and each time I find myself having night terrors, nightmares, and grinding my teeth. For some, it works quite well, while others it affects them poorly.

Yes! I forgot about the headaches. Beside the extreme nightmares, I woke up with a squash for a head the next day.

no terrible dreams or any other side effects other than sometimes a dry mouth. i always have a bottled water next to my bed.
i use it maybe twice a week, as needed.
@sunshine45 , I'm curious how you'll know that you need it that night, an hour before you want to sleep. I don't know I'm having a bad night until after I've been in bed awake for an hour.
@Peaches McPhee if it is already say around 11pm and i am not feeling tired or yawning, then i know i will need it. it is difficult to explain......i just know when i am wide awake and most of the time i am laying down watching tv or on the computer. i am definitely never one of those people who can fall asleep in 5 minutes, but i can feel my body beginning to relax at night and know that i will be asleep shortly.
this is why i only take it on an as needed basis. it is also good if you are traveling and want to adjust to the time change faster.

@KACEE1115 You really just need to try it for yourself. Many people have no issues with using it. I take it every night and have for over 20 years. It just helps me sleep better. And now they find many other benefits to using it too.

Check with your doctor. Like any supplement, melatonin has different effects on different people. It can also interact with any other supplements/medications you are taking.

It helped me fall asleep very easily but after taking it for about a month I started having horrible stomach aches. They stopped when I stopped taking it. It seems to affect different people differently.

I take it every night. No bad dreams.

Melatonin can make one have vivid dreams. Start with 1 mg only. Not 5 mg or 10 mg like many people take. I like Source Naturals and find it at my local natural food stores or Vitamin Shoppe. Avoid drugstore brands.
