Lou Gehrig's Disease - in tears

I am heart-broken, in tears and scared that a pillar member of my family has just been diagnosed with early stages of Lou Gehrig's disease. He is a robust 60 year old that nothing normally ticks him off when others would go bonkers.

I have read the official ALS site and just looking for glimmer of hope beyond hope past the average 2 years expectations.

I would gladly trade places with him. He is worth and done so much more for everyone.

Is there anyone, who unfortunately, may have witness loved ones diagnosed with ALS ?
