I've been vegetarian for several years and the past two months I've made the step to cut out eggs and cheese. I haven't used milk, butter and those dairy products since giving up meat. So, in other words, I don't eat any animal products whatsover, which is both a health decision for me and an ethical one that I don't push on anyone else. However, I was wondering if there are any other vegans on the boards because there is an interesting phenomenon that I'm dealing with and I don't know what causes it. If I'm eating with friends and it becomes apparent that I'm not eating what they are eating they become almost confrontational, and try to tell me that I'm doing myself harm. They say I'm going to get sick, protein deprived, weak bones, etc. I try to be as discreet as possible about my food choices to avoid this, but it seems to happen frequently. Since I'm the type of person who avoids confrontations, it's making me want to avoid those situations. Does anyone else find themselves dealing with this?
