Thank you for your answer on the diabetic thread! I will look up and read what Byetta is and discuss with my doctor also. I've tried a few orals and a few injectables.
Our insurance will allow not quite a month's worth of test strips so I have only tested in AM fasting. The diet nurce went over carbs and how to figure carbs per meal and snacks. According to what I learned a salad, meatloaf and a small piece of cornbread would be acceptable. Please tell me how that would not be ok for you? What diet do you follow? This class was called "the plate method."
I am a little gun shy after running into a nasty poster on another non wellness thread and after being invited, asking my questions, and then only one person and now you answering I feared I had made a mistake. If I was considering surgery I would have already had it as they were ready to sceduile me and set me up with a credit company. Without looking this option up I could not tell Moonchilde all the "facts" that they gave me about how it did work for diabetis. I do remember that it is absolutly covered by insurance of you are obese & diabetic.
Anyway, I did want to answer you and not take the chance of offending the regular posters on the other thread. Your thoughtfulness is appreciated.
Have a wonderful day,
Cathy

Hi, @Jackhound Mom! I'm not on the thread in question, but saw this and thought it might be helpful to add an "@" notification so @Trinity11 won't miss your post. I'm sorry you're having challenges. These forums can be a wee bit testy now and then but I've learned that the overwhelming majority of posters are caring, well-meaning people -- it's just that the written word is so limiting, and it's easy to have misunderstandings now and then. Sending you good wishes for better heath and brighter days.❤️

Thank you DooBDoo! I will figure out how to use Trinity's name. You are so kind to try to help me and you are right, most everyone here has great intentions! Yea!
Sending good thoughts right back at you,
Cathy

Hi, @Jackhound Mom. I deleted my post because I thought perhaps it irritated Moonchilde when she posted directly after it "Ugh." I limit my exposure here due to having had 2 heart attacks within 11 months. I guess you could say I just don't need stress and try to avoid it.
I am happy what I posted may have been helpful. You had a 200 the following morning after the meatloaf, which usually contains a lot of fat, carbs and the cornbread is starchy. I try to eat mostly vegetables but I do eat meat. I test frequently. Try Walmart's meters and strips. I supplement with them as insurance pays for less than I need. I use Reli-On Prime..very inexpensive.
My diet will be different than a Type 2. Because I use insulin, I can match it to the number of carbohydrate grams I plan to eat. For example 1 small potato would for myself be 5 units. I am insulin resistant so I need more as the years have progressed. If I were Type 2, I would get to a low weight and eat few carbohydrates...many are able to go into remission (Not cured) but it takes constant vigilance.
I hope you are able to find a medication that you can adjust to. Just remember to give metformin time and get the slow release version. Start out slow and build it up over many months..

You're welcome, @Jackhound Mom! The "@" notification feature can be testy at times, but with some practice we usually can get it to work. Thanks for the good thoughts!❤️

Thanks, @reiki604 and @Trinity11! I appreciate your kind sentiments, more than you know. I missed both of you, too.❤️

Hello nice ladies...I was just roaming around reading and came upon this thread. I see I'm not the only one who has been dealing with the sarcastic, condescending, rude posters. I am so tired of it. It's every single day. Not just me, but other posters as well being attacked. Words being twisted, name calling, posts and entire threads being deleted, yet these posters are allowed to keep doing it. I'm afraid to post on CC anymore. I have done my share of snark and have not always been the perfect poster, but I cannot believe that any of you nice ladies have been jumped on. I'm sorry.

@catwhisperer, hello, my friend.❤️ Unfortunately, it does happen. I recently encountered it at a time when I was already feeling deeply despondent. So, I stopped posting for a while. Right after that, a dear friend passed away and I didn't feel -- with the particular timing of events -- that this place was the "soft place to fall" that I desperately needed. Sad, but true. I know I try to tell everyone to remember the negativity reflects back on the (very few) posters who manifest it and it says nothing about the person they target... but when we're the target it can hurt. And then... with no ability to sort things out in private, we're left with the debris of confusion, sadness, and usually a nagging absence of a good resolution to what might have been a misunderstanding. I don't know the answer. I miss good people like you when you're not around... I miss posting when I step away. But I understand how unsettling the environment can be, even with all the wonderful people here who outshine and who do transcend the negativity.
