I really do think you should invest some of your time in volunteer work,  I have suggested this to you in the past, I think it would be most helpful. You spend entirely too much time thinking about yourself.

I was afraid to lose my wifi when the power goes out. Wifi routers need electricity to work. If that goes out then I lose internet and anything connected to that which is everything 'smart' and my Voip (internet phone). I was so concerned, and frankly freaked out, about losing internet so I purchased one of these power back-up devices. I have my router, desktop and phone connected to it. Now if and when there is a power outage I'll have internet service...for how long I'm not sure b/c I have'nt had a long outage...yet, TG.

APC Back-UPS BN450M UPS - 255W - 450 VA - $50
(about the size of a loaf of bread)

They make bigger models which will back-up more stuff but this one suits my needs and the cost was affordable. Now I have PEACE OF MIND!

@Group 5 minus 1

Heat in the apt, no lights, getting hurt walking around and losing the contents of my fridge if the outage lasts.

I understand none of these are but most fears are not

Re: I think I have a form of PSTD

Last year DH and I invested in four units of Yeti ice (@ $18 each). For us this has been well worth it. Whenever we do 6 he r.t. to Costco we can even bring back ice cream bars frozen but we also freeze them (a day ahead) when big storms are forecast and put them in each refrigerator or our big "faux" Yeti ice chest($79 from WM) to insure our perishables stay safe; they easily last 2-3 days.

Lots of good suggestions here.  Another thing that I’ve found helpful is light sticks.  They do not use batteries or electricity and give off light for about 12 hours.  I use them at night, like nightlights, throughout the house to find my way to the bathroom, etc.

I get the feeling she doesn't want any practical responses as she hasn't said thank you or replied to any suggestions or done anything of the things mentioned.
But I'm getting a lot of great tips!

@GenXmuse  I've come to the realization that many just don't thank the suggestions offered....however I like to read what others say and add my 2 cents.

It's as much for me as it is for those who may be reading.  For instance I've never heard of Light Sticks or Yeti ice before!  I will check them out....thank you to the posters who mentioned them!

If you really feel you have a form of PTSD, I'd seek a professional to talk about it and get his/her ideas/thoughts.

Surely, it cannot hurt.

(((oxox)))    I hope you're feeling better today.    I totally understand, as one who has PTSD and clinical depression.    Sometimes things can seem tougher than they are.

I find that if I stop everything and take some deep breaths, then try to re-direct my mind to something else for a while, it helps.  I know that sounds rather rudimentary but it can help.

Then, maybe finding a way to go back to it and sort it out, whether you are able to do that on your own or have counseling will be monumentally helpful.

Wishing you the best.  Hang in there.   Smiley Happy
