Invest in a generator

@Mz iMac

No way to hook it up we are on the second floor of a garden apt and I seriously doubt it would be allowed

@I am still oxox  Here's what we doWe have lots of battery operated candles, so we make sure they are all lit. We also call our families and our neighbors to make sure everyone is fine or maybe needs something. Then we read or play board games. If you have any neighbors you are close to, you could throw a blackout party. Order pizza or other take-out and break out the vino!

Re: I think I have a form of PSTD

Do you have a health issue to the extent you are you in any kind of real physical danger if you do not have eletricity?  You survived last time, so I tend to think not.

If not, just try to remember that you will be fine.

I like to think about the worst thing that could happen.  I lose all the food in my freezer.  I have to sleep without air conditioning.  I have to go to sleep when it gets dark out.  I can\t watch TV.  None of those things are a big deal in the long run.

Whenever we lose power, I always think back to the time when there was no electricity.  It is amazing how dependent we are on it.

@I am still oxox  There are apartment generators.  Apparently, since your apt complex does not have one, I see no reason why management would not allow it.  I would ask them.

I live in high rise.  We have generators but for some strange reason (which management/maintenance has yet to explain) they do not work inside the apartment units!

I & a few other tenents purchased apt generators from Home Depot.  And no, we did not ask management.  Luckly, in the 6 yrs I've lived here, we only had to use it once (recently).

I have empathy for you. Connecticut suffered when Isaias struck. Trees down. Wires down. Like  a war zone. Today we had a tornado warning and I felt far more worried than I normally would have. I appreciate you expressing how you felt. I shared that feeling today.

I know being without power can be a real pain but I can't comprehend PTSD from losing electricity.
