@GenXmuse

I was looking for comfort, we have 5 flashlights, all that are self cranking and do not need batteries and a huge lantern and a small light with a fan we are very equipped.

That is not the part that worries me, I can not explain anything more it is just a helpless feeling and I am sorry if you do not understand

But I'm getting a lot of great tips!

We live way back in the woods, you see,and frequently get power outages. For that reason we bought a Generac. If you live in an apartment you would be able to have a Generac, but if you are that afraid you must prepare. Good preparation will help you w/your fears.

Try Googling and see what is said.

That sounds rather ungrateful when people have tried to help. You haven't replied to anyone BUT me. Do you have a counselor? Can you do zoom therapy, maybe talk to your doctor about handling your anxiety. This must be very difficult for you and your family. i think developing some emotional fortitude would make you feel more confident in your ability to handle things.

Gratitude and thinking of others would be a positive step towards realizing the world doesn't revolve around you. Look around you on the board.

You might find some comfort with a heavy duty flashlight in each room.  I'd look at Sams, Costco, or Amazon.

This forum seems more geared to actionable matters. The OP's needs might be better met in "Among Friends." The mood there is generally sweet and tender.

Re: I think I have a form of PSTD

Well, today, I can commiserate with losing power.  Last night, early evening, our power went out and was out until after midnight.

I hate to complain, as our power seldom goes out and usually it's not out for long at all.   But when it goes out at night time and/or during the summer, it's awful.   I cannot lie in bed at night with no tv to help me fall asleep (I turn on the tv timer).  Plus, it's too hot.

We do have a plethora of flashlights, lanterns (battery op), etc, so the light part isn't bad.   But also I have a little fan that uses batteries or if you want you can plug it in, if there is power.   This was the first time I used it and it was really great.

Needless to say, I didn't sleep much but I was so glad when I woke up one of the times a little after 1am and the power was back on!  Smiley Happy

Yeah, I generally don't even come here to vent or anything like that.  Too many who just show up to tear ya down.     If I feel the need for any of that I either just talk to people I know well and are friends, or another board where pretty much everybody is a grown up and there aren't those who have a need to tear people down and step on them while they're there.  It's just not worth it.

Re: I think I have a form of PSTD

That is why you shouldn't respond to a post that involves a mental health issue @Lipstickdiva. PTSD can be triggered by any event, and the person has no control over the feelings it evokes.

Kind reassuring words, and actions help. Your post did not offer that, so next time educate yourself on the subject first, or ask questions so you have a baseline knowledge before you respond.

@GenXmuse Telling someone in crisis they are ungrateful, and that the world doesn't revolve around them is unbelievable to me. I feel for the people around you.
