Re: Has anyone participated in an Intervention to get a loved one to go to treatment for their drug/alcohol addiction?

Two times, two different family members. We were all at a tough love place. We couldn't cave. We had to say what we mean and mean what we say; even if it put distance between us and loved ones. So, so, so difficult. Glad that's behind me. Dad wasn't at a place to listen to us, so we had some space and time apart. However, he was sober about 7 years before he passed and we were blessed to experience closure and enjoy one another. My daughter had problems at 21 after date rape. That was a tough one. My daughter and dad attended the same rehab facility (different times.) Cried lots of tears on that drive up and back. Daughter is 26 and has been doing great since she received the counseling she needed. My heart goes out to you and other posters who have had broken hearts because of addiction issues.
