@Luvsmyfam Wishing next shot is better.
This am I had a Covid, RSV & Flu Shot & was a little shaky, headachy but honestly, after about an hour, I'm fine. Hope the same for you.

@Luvsmyfam Wishing you the very best! If I lived closer I would come hold your hand! I'm sending you long distance support!

@Luvsmyfam, I'm sorry you've had bad experiences. Have you spoken with your doctor(s) about your personal, individual experience and your worries?
One reason most of the vaccination threads have been deleted or locked, in my opinion, is due to the (well-intentioned) temptation for us to tell our friends here what they should do or try to push for a certain choice... I think regarding our health and well-being the only ethical "should" is to remember to be a good, consistent partner with our own, personal healthcare providers who know us, know our history and perhaps family history, and who will be there in person to help us if or when we need it. We goofy-named folks on an anonymous discussion forum will not and cannot be there in person... though we are lucky to feel a kinship and friendship with some of our fellow posters, for sure.😊

MMR antibodies test on Labcorp's website.
Many states allow you to order limited bloodwork yourself. Catch is, you have to self pay. I have done this myself in MI.
@Snowpuppy MMR is measles, mumps, and rubella, not chickenpox. There is a test for Chickenpox, but my Dr. wouldn't order it. I was never really sure if I had it or not. My sister had a bad case of them, but I only got this one spot on my scalp which may or may not have been chickenpox.

@Icegoddess oh! Thanks for that! I've had chickenpox, measles and rubella.
I do talk to my dr as I have an auto immune disorder. That said, it was my dr who told me about ordering lab tests. If I haven't met my deductible for the year, it's often cheaper to self pay.
I don't have Medicare.

I had the new Covid booster last week and will have the Flu shot 2 weeks after the Covid shot. My doctor instructed me to wait 2 weeks between shots. Glad you are ok with no serious effects
afterwards.

After suffering shingles in late 2020 (during the pandemic) I was treated with gabapentin for 9 months and it gradually resolved only to reappear in early 2023 affecting the opposite side. I thought I was going to lose my mind, here we go with gabapentin and the xylocaine patches again. My doctor advised I get the shingrix vaccines once things were resolved. I received the first vaccine and was sore and achey for a couple of days and just recently, I received the second dose along with the flu shot and I'm happy to say that all I had was a sore arm for a day or so. Don't be apprehensive about getting the vaccine. just know you are taking the steps to avoid this horrible situation of shingles.
Shingles are no joke, I have to say that I equate the pain/distress of shingles as bad as kidney stones. I thought labor pains were rough but at least you got a respite in between contractions but with shingles, it's constant electric shooting pains that went through both breasts, right side in 2020 and left side 2023. Glad that is done.....so what I'm saying is that a couple days of achey muscles and a sore arm was a piece of cake compared to shingles!!!!

@SuperShopper Good post and you're exactly right ~ everyone's different. I got Shingrix because my Internist recommended it for me. Other than minor sore arm the shots had no more side effect than a flu or pneumonia vaccine. Best of health to you.

I'm sorry you got sick on the first shingles shot.
I have a couple of friends who stayed in bed sick the following day.
I feel very lucky to just have had tender arm for a couple of days.

Hi Luvsmyfam. I had a reaction from my first Shingrix shot. I did not have any reaction at all from the 2nd shot. Hopefully, it will be the same for you.
