I'm getting my first shot Thursday. I must be brave.I'm still on the fence if I want to get it or not.

Be brave because it's much better than getting the Shingles.  I didn't have any reaction to them, except for just a little pain in the area of the injection.  Good luck.

Isn't there a simple blood test you can take to determine if you still have antibodies before you put yourself thru that agony?

MMR antibodies test on Labcorp's website.

Many states allow you to order limited bloodwork yourself. Catch is, you have to self pay. I have done this myself in MI.

@dimin I know not everyone experiences the same reaction, but My library co worker got them so bad,she was put on morphine. She had shingles in the worst place ever. That scared me so bad,I decided to get my first shot.Yes,I had a horrible headache, and body aches for 3 days.Of course missed work at both jobs, but then everything was fine. This is why I am dreading it,but I know I have to do it,plus insurance pays for it.

Good luck with it

I am so sorry you have had a bad experience with the Shingrix shot.  Hopefully your second shot will go better.
I was concerned about getting the shot but decided to get it, knowing how terrible shingles can be.  With the first shot, my arm was kind of sore for a couple of days, but it was tolerable.  I had heard the second shot was much worse, but was pleasantly surprised to find that I actually had less discomfort than with the first shot.  I am so glad that I decided to get both shots.
Getting an immunization is always a personal decision as everyone's medical issues are different.  Your decision should be based on your own personal history in consultation with your doctor.
Best of luck to you!

So sorry you got sick after the Shingles shot !  Hope it goes better this time.  I had the shingles shot as well but I ended up getting shingles and was totally shocked when my doctor told me I had it.  The "banging" intermittent head pain was the worse thing ever !  I had a rash on the right side of my neck.  Believe me shingles is no fun !!

I had no reaction whatsoever to the Shingles vaccine.  In fact, I think I also got a flu shot on the same day as the first one.  No even a sore arm.
