I can't and won't get either of those vaccines. Some people have issues with taking vaccines and have horrible side-effects. I'm one of them and would rather be careful, and take my chances.

I can understand, but shingles is such a terrible illness and lasts for months, this is one shot I would not pass on, just my 2 cents. Your doc can advise you best.

Had the senior flu shot Wednesday afternoon -  minor pain Wed evening but that was gone by morning

Will try to schedule shingles once I get moved in a few months -- I do anticipate a reaction to that one based on lots of reports although all I remember from the first shingles shot years back is a few days of arm pain.

Two years ago I went to the doctor and to the OP pharmacy to get the Rx.

I decided to ask if they actually had the senior, then went for the gold and asked about the newer shingles.

All I remember is that I had on a long sleeve tee and they wanted both arms.

No problems other than a sore arm from the flu.

@Group 5 minus 1   I hope you reconsider and go for the second shot.  The first shot alone won't have done you much, if any good.

@Group 5 minus 1   The shingles shot comes in 2 parts.  Your second shot I believe is after 6 mos.  I had the shingles and did not feel anything except where the needle site was located.   I hope you feel better soon.

@Katcat1 - 2nd shot can be give starting at day 60 after the first shot.  I got my second shot on day 60.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

I had the 2 part Shingrix shot last year, but no ill effects.

Wednesday I had the over 65 flu shot and yesterday had a little site soreness, but it's fine today, no ill effects.

You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

I got the senior flu shot a week ago.  I must be allergic to something in the vaccine because I was sneezing and my nose was runny for 3 days.  I felt like I had a cold.  Then suddenly it went away.

I've heard that the side effects you may experience from these vaccinations is related to your strong immune response.

I didn't have the effects that many of you have had.

@Group 5 minus 1  I do hope you're able to get the second shingles booster.  I've seen some horrible cases of shingles and the nerve pain that can follow after you've recovered.  My ophthalmologist strongly encouraged getting the shingles vaccine as you could have lesions close to your eyes that could effect your sight.

I hope you feel better soon.

@Group 5 minus 1 ..Holly....what were your symptoms.  I have ever had a reaction to a flu show before, but this time I had chills, abdominal pains, dry mouth.  Never before bothered by the shot.
