Some people might say, "expensive toy". I figure anything that gets my fanny out of the chair, is priceless!!

That is how I look at it, too! Honestly, all my life it was never exercise that was hard to do; it was getting up off the sofa to do it that was difficult. {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

My Fitbit showed me that, even doing regular weight training & cardio workouts, my steps per day usually landed me in the sedentary category because of my job.

I have read about how we need to move throughout the day, too. Sitting for hours and getting most of the activity at one time is not the best healthwise either. Little by little, I started finding ways to add steps all day long. I even added reminders to my smartphone to help me get in the habit of moving more often when at home. It is kind of like a game - how can I add steps today? Completely opposite of how I used to think. It used to be all about getting all 15 bags of groceries in the house in one trip! lol...

It took me a long time but I figured it out & am working to get the most out of my day every day. I started with goals that were just a bit higher than what I was reaching w/o trying so that it would not be too difficult, then increased each week.

It is nice to think of how much more active I am now and how much easier it is now than when I started.

I absolutely love my Flex. It was a Christmas gift, and has made moving and amping up my activity a lot more fun.

I bought myself the Fitbit One for Christmas and love it. For me, it seems to be accurate for the stepcount and distance (except when I use my rowing machine, it doesn't register any acitivity so I manually enter that into the app). It has motivated me to get moving and I've lost 19 pounds so far with 16 to go.

From what others have said, the bracelet versions will sometimes pick up steps while driving, but you can manually go in and put the times you were driving and it will deduct those steps. And, if you are pushing a stroller or shopping cart, it won't pick up steps since your arms aren't moving. And on the other side, if you talk a lot with your hands, some say it will register steps for that.

I don't use my One for tracking my sleep. I just don't see the benefit in that for me.

And for the stair counter, I don't use that either. It registers off of barametric pressure changes. One time I registed 50 flights of stairs because we took a drive where we were up and down a bunch of bluffs.

I like being able to have "friends" on my app who also have the FitBit and we can all see each others 7-day totals. Can have some friendly competitions to stay at the top.

I also use the app to enter my calorie intake. But the app can also be linked to other sites like My Fitness Pal and some others that I can't recall off hand.

So I highly recommend the One. I clip it to my pants pocket every day and so far I've never forgotten it. If I lost it today or it quit working, I'd head to the closest store and replace it asap. It's kind of addicting. And there are several groups on Facebook that you can join that off motivation and just a camaraderie.

Do you have the Zip? I have that one - you hook it on your bra.

I heard that some people have problems with the wristband irritating their skin.

I LOVE my FitBit Zip! I don't go anywhere without it!

That was the Force, not the Flex. It only affected a small number of people, but they did a voluntary recall and no longer sell the Force, only the Flex. I have a Force and have never had trouble with skin irritation, which surprised me because most everything else gives me skin irritation. After they pulled the stock, I contacted them and said I wasn't sure if I should return mine or not because the accessories (charger, Dongle to connect to a PC) were no longer sold and they said that if I ever lost either, they would send me free replacements. FitBit has fantastic customer service.

QVC sells the Flex and you can also buy more wristband colors at the FitBit website if you want a more fashionable color.

I think any device that gets person motivated to move more is awesome.....the company I work for does corporate wellness programs and we have our own device that is used for tracking activity....some of the people want to use their fitbits but they don't work with our program...I don't understand why they go out and buy a fitbit when their employee pays for our device and they get that one for free....but no matter.....I think the fitbit will work well in the retail market... it is just not a part of our program nor does it work with our website.

I have been considering purchasing a FitBit for months now...cannot decide between the Flex or the One models (or a different brand for that matter). I love reading everyone's take on them in the meantime. Hopefully I will get the courage to make a purchase soon!

I chose the Flex over a year ago because it's always on me. I don't have to remember to attach it to my clothes or put it in a pocket. I still have to charge it every 5 days but it charges fast, even at my computer while I work (USB cable was included but the actual charger was not. I have lots of chargers anyway.) If I forget to take it off before I take a shower, bathe the dog, jump in the pool, etc. it doesn't matter since it's water resistant to xx feet. (I forget the actual number of feet but I don't get in water deeper than that anyway.)

My sister has both but it's the Flex she uses all the time.

I wear my fitbit flex everyday all day long and it does not bother me at all. Like it alot, it really motivates you to move and reminds you when you are a slug. Smiley Happy Great item.

I would shop around for it. You can get it from Drugstore.com and use a coupon and get free ship. QVC is not the place to buy it and I learned that from experience. I almost sent it back and repurchases it but then didn't want to deal with it. I seriuosly should have shopped it becuase I could have saved myself $24.
