I don't take any Rx meds but I do take several supplements and some of them are starting to become harder to find especially at a decent price. Supplement prices are getting high just like everything else. When I find what I need then I snap up a stock-full just to keep from running out.

Yes, my prescription for Losartan went un-refilled for over three weeks. The supply was out all over my state. Luckily I had some left from a gap in syncing all three of my prescriptions together at one point. It's available now but it was scary thinking about the lack of other possibly life saving medications in the future. I know insulin is expensive but what would be the impact if it were unavailable?

I was given an RX for a pretty common vitamin supplement..which is covered by my RX plan..It took a week for my Local Walgreens to get it ! Glad it wasn't  a life or death situation.

Re: Drug Availability

[ Edited ]

I use OptumRx & haven't had problems with any of my oral prescriptions (so far), but I use 0.25mg. estradiol patches for HRT & the last refill I got was in Sept. of last year.  Luckily, I have accumulated a lot of patches, so I'm not running out, but they tell me it could be many months before they get the med back in stock again.  They don't seem to know if the issue is with the ingredients or the delivery system at the manufacturing level.

ETA: Optum only carries one single brand of these patches, so if they're out of them, I'm SOL & oral HRT didn't agree with me when i tried it years ago.  Not sure if it's available at regular pharmacies at this time, but since I pay $0 for a 90 day supply from Optum vs. $125+ from a pharmacy, I'd prefer to fill the Rx from Optum!

My neurologist now has a pharmacy on the first floor of her office building...they only fill scripts from all the neuros in the building....that has made availability much less of a problem.
