I was wondering if anyone is familiar with this....from what I understand this is the best way to determine your actual BMI....only recently had I heard of this. A lady at the salon was telling me how her husband had this done and then some other tests they offer there then they helped him get in shape based on the results. She said it worked really great for her husband....lost the weight...got in great shape now.
I never heard of this until now....I had a dexa scan a few yrs ago but that was thur my gyno for bone mass....I was told I have osteopenia....and have been working out since then. Have wondered what my true BMI is but the report I got from doc doesn't mention BMI.
Anyway...what are your thoughts on this? Thanks
(as a side note: before anyone asks....I am not embarrassed to post this question even if forums are anonymous)

Never heard of this and I have had several Dexa scans. Just ask your doctor!

I haven't heard of Body Fit 360.
BMI isn't important & has nothing to do with fitness. Do you mean it shows true BF% (body fat) or LBM (lean body mass)? DEXA can show both of those things.

This is pretty much todays Gold Standard for Bone Density and measures bone loss that measures BMD, not BMI.
For me, this would be something I would do, in addition to Submersion Body Composition Testing. With all the many procedures I have had on this old body, no doctor of any of the many specialist that have seen them, ever mentioned a problem with my bone density. I won't go into what I think of BMI numbers here, I said all I have to say in another thread what I think about what a BMI tells anyone.
Only bones I have broken were from sort of trauma, not from a lack of bone density. Have had 6 broken ribs(all trauma)/broken nose 8 times(trauma)/broken Calcaneus (trauma) and several broken toes, all from some form of trauma. If no doctor is concerned after all my many procedures, which has included 4 Total Body Nuclear Scans, I will wait till I have a medical reason to have a DEXA Test.
Unless I am mistaken, the female gender has more bone density issues than their male counterparts. Were I concerned, the DEXA Scan would be my choice.

The DEXA Body Fit 360 covers a whole program. It includes a Pulmonary Maximal Oxygen Uptake (Max Vo2)/Lungs Ability to take in Oxygen and to Dispel Carbon Dioxide/Overall Health, and yes, it does measure Visceral Body Fat. I have heard it can be done via a Treadmill or a fancy Stationary Bike specifically for this purpose. I have had many Maximal Pulmonary Stress Tests over the decades and everyone was done on a Treadmill?
They say it can be used in lieu of a Body Composition Testing, but unless it has expanded it's capabilities, it does not show total composition, which includes muscle density/total fat percentage, and water body weight.
From what I have read, and also heard from my Sports Med Doctor friends, it is Total Body Fitness, including life style changes, if necessary, and a tailored fitness and dietary program for those that wish to follow the total program.

Thanks for the replies....it does sound like a total program....googled their website and other info comes up too on other sites but I had never heard that a dexa scan could tell you about your body fat so that really got me....I thought you needed to to that holding your breath under water test. I have never done anything like that either.
I guess I just want to know if I am building muscle with my workout program and not storing up fat. I have been gaining weight for a yr now and I am kinda concerned about it. When I plugg in my numbers for height/weight it says I am normal BMI. BUT how does that know what my muscle mass is?? it's just some #'s....
Oh and I already had a dexa scan couple yrs ago...have osteopenia...but doc doesn't do that test each yr it's about every 5yrs they order it to watch and see if it is osteoporosis. I'll be mentioning this all to her in the fall when I do my yearly check up.
