I hope to start a walking program this week...the weather forcast  shows nicer weather ahead.  It has been terribly windy and rainy in my area.

I have used our stationary bike since December, 5ish nights a week...not a single pound lost..I also have a rebounder that I use.

I have never been an over eater so portion control is not my problem.

I am hoping walking outside will make the difference, but wondering if anyone has done a detox before starting a weight loss program?

I only have 10 lbs to lose....my clothes are not tight but my belly looks thick..I want to lose the belly.

thanks

The only thing I have ever learned about weight loss is that I cannot spot lose weight. My belly hasn't really ever been flat since my pregnancies but then again my last baby was almost 12 pounds. 😀

I hope someone can help and maybe has some advice for hormonally induced weight gain around the middle @Mom2Dogs . I have ever yet to have success with it through the years.

@Trinity11   You are correct about the horomonally induced weight gain. I did not have any babies, so my issue is not caused by pregnancy...I am 70 this year and typically always had a thin waist, no belly bulge....just in the last 2-3 years have I noticed this change in my body.

I am finding I feel a little uncomfortable.

All my friends and many have not had children are struggling with a tummy bulge. I think it is hormonally induced weight gain after menopause. At least according to our physicians. We all are trying to figure out how to change it. I am trying out a pescatarian diet and feel a lot lighter on it. I already lost five pounds. (Trying to get to 125 at 5'8. )

My problem area is my belly too and I know it's from my high cortisol level. I read that walking is the best thing to get cortisol levels down.

I am going to aim for 3 miles a day, five days a week. Let's see if I can keep that up.

I would check youTube for exercise videos that target your problem area.

It could be excess fluids your body isn't releasing. I know there are things to help with that but can't remember them right now.

@Trinity11  FYI - I've always heard the formula for proper weight as 5' = 100 lbs and another 5 lbs for every inch (this is for medium bone structure - small or large bone structure is adjusted a bit). So 125 lbs at 5'8 is too thin (140 lbs is more accurate).

That seems a bit thin. I'm only 5'1 and 105 would not be a healthy weight for me. And I'm small boned so by that formula I would need to be around 100 lbs. That's very unrealistic for me.

Most of my life I was 118 lbs. I have a small frame, and since I am a Type 1 diabetic, I need to carry as little weight as possible. At 140 ( which I weighed after my son) I felt really bad and I looked overweight. I modeled years ago and I am sure it colors my perceptions of what a "normal" weight is. Everyone was thinner than me @ThinkingOutLoud . Just look at Princess Kate. She is very thin and doesn't weigh anywhere near what the charts say she should be.

I did too, but at this age, I'd look like I was sick, if (at 5'9"), I weighed less than 125 pounds. Smiley Wink
