Hi, I'm new to the boards. I had surgery on May 4th and everything went really well. After four days I could not move at all and had to have a second surgery due to a blood clot. That surgery left me unable to move the the lower half of my body. I have since regained almost all of my movement. I was told that I will walk again. I have been in an acute rehab and am now in a sub acute rehab and will most likely need out patient therapy after this and my question is has this happened to anyone and how long did your recovery take. I realize everyone is different but I'm just trying to get an idea. Also since all this I've become incontinit which has not been fun! I thank you all in advance for any help.

you don't say where they did the surgery...cervical or lumbar region..... I had surgery on C-5-6 in 1989,  it went well.....had to wear the dumb collar for 3 months....now 27 years later I have pain again in the same place....not sure at 71 I want to do it all again...if the pain is bad enough I guess I would have it done again.... Best of Luck to you...hope you improve each day.

Thank you all for your kind words and prayers. I actually stood for 5 minuets on Friyday. Although not on my own but I feel as though it is a postive step towards my end goal! It was scary and exciting all at the same time!

mishka, have you tried going to physical therapy to help you?  I spent 3 1/2 months in therapy with severe cervical pain and now I'm pain free thanks to 2 times daily exercises recommended by my therapist.  I just hope it continues to benefit me, but so far, so good.

@mishka14

I will. Our current CIC has changed nothing in Medicare. I recently had 12 sessions of 45 minute Physical Therapy and my total was $120. In 6 months changed Medicare? When vacations are occurring every other month it seem. I flunked history but I do know who writes the laws. Companies were bailing from state after state long before 1-20-17. Look backwards for those reasons.

HI,

What is CIC?   I am confused by your answer...all I wanted to say was Insurance is expensive and I don't have a lot of money....

Hi to you @mishka14,

This is in regards to a post with your nic that is no longer in this thread. You said something to the effect of  "I won't say what I think of the current president", thus my above reply that "I will." The CIC is Commander in Chief of our Armed Forces, i.e. the president.

Not sure if you deleted that post or a moderator removed it, but it was here when I posted my above reply. I'm surprised mine is still here if they deleted yours. Now it's your turn. Did you delete your original post? I know what I read in this thread when I posted this reply, and I do not see it here now.

Hey, things happen and let's just let it go, eh?

Re: Cervical spine surgery

[ Edited ]

I had Cervical spine surgery (fusion) in 2003 (C3-C4) The pain was horrible and I would have done anything to make it go away. The surgery was so successful.  I couldn't believe the pain was gone. I was also told that C6-C7 would cause a problem and a year and a half later I never hesitated and had that done also. No problem. So now when I have an exray done, it's so funny to see two metal plates and four screws to each plate.

Never regretted my decision.

HI,

I still can see the post...it's way above...and thanks for the answer.  After I thought about it I realized CIC meant  Commander In Chief...LOL...since my son was in the militay for 10 yrs...and in Afghanistan and Iraq, Italy, Bosnia, Africa..  What I originally meant was if  Medicare goes away I will be in deep trouble...Smiley Sad
