I was taking Oxycodone for a broken back for several months.  I purposely went off of it for fear of getting addicted.  It's been at least a month since I took the last pill, and now I can't sleep.  Several nights will go by without my sleeping at all.  Has anyone else experienced withdrawal symptoms with this drug?

Talk to your doctor about your withdrawal issues.  DH takes the same drug and has been on it (stable dose) for 10 yrs and when he can't sleep he vapes MJ( he has a medical MJ card).  If you go this route, I caution you to never mention it to your PCP (he/she will cut off your regular medication).

@fortune.  Are you getting some physical exercise?  That will do me in and send me right off to Dreamland.  My doctor keeps giving me scripts for Hydrocodone, and I keep never filling them.  The rigamarole you have to go through to take it just isn't worth the trouble.

@fortune This is what my husband is experiencing now. He took oxycodone for 5 years after prostate cancer surgery, radiation and then he was involved in a car accident the same year. He decided to get off it a few weeks ago and now he hasn’t slept in over a week. He doesn’t want to start taking it again because of the side effects but I worry because he gets no sleep. Not sure what the answer is. Good luck to you!

My SO has many back issues and can barely walk or stand up straight at times.  He is on pain meds and has trouble sleeping.  His pain doctor said if he wants to try MJ he would have to get off of pain meds as the effects of combining them could be dangerous and cause other issues.  CBD though could be used without going off pain meds to help him sleep.  He hasn't tried yet though.

I have taken Ambien and it helps when I'm tense.  I had back surgery 8 years ago and found it hard to sleep as my back would still hurt when laying down in a bed.  There are many people who say you do things without remembering after taking but, that hasn't happened to me.  Even if he took an over-the-counter sleeping pill.

I take mj and also an anti inflammatory. The mj does not help me sleep, In pm I take the mj that is supposed to help sleep. I still am up with pain and insomnia.

The mj will help with anxiety and that enables person to handle pain better.

They have CBD gummies with Melatonin in them and my husband said they help him sleep.

@fortune  Have you tried Andrew Lessman's Night Time?  It really works.  Melatonin alone didn't work for me, but this has that, and other ingredients that work.  No grogginess, just relaxes one so one can fall asleep.

Sorry @fortune,

won't take any Opiod. Addiction withdrawal is probably like other health issues, where everyone is different. I have no idea what you are experiencing other than I too have had days without sleeping. However I knew the reasons at the times. Most were because of my work hours of Midnight to 8am(Graveyard Shift). Best bet is to talk with the one who wrote your Prescription.
