Re: COST OF DENTAL IMPLANTS?

It depends on where you live, the dentist, how many teeth.  A former co-worker won some money on a lottery scratch ticket and paid for her husband's dental implants.  I believe it was several of his top teeth.  She said it cost $16,000.  And that was about 10 years ago.

I’m in the process of getting one now. The total will be almost $5,000

Re: COST OF DENTAL IMPLANTS?

in 2010, i bought them for my mom.

it was at least 6 teeth in the front, on the top
and that many on the bottom on one side

the bill was $10,000 for everything including anesthesia, molds, x-rays.

i selected a dentist that did implants for players on 2 pro hockey teams (as they lose teeth on a regular basis) and celebrities.

i knew people that just went to any old dentist that said they did implants and some either had one fall out at some point or they weren't happy. i wanted the best in the business, as they say.

my mom never had any problems, or any fall out.

i liked that it was a team of dentists/surgeons, in the room, in case something went left.

but nothing did, thank goodness.

they may ask for a recent medical report to check for some things (can't remember what they were looking for)

get references.

ask how long their work is guaranteed for and what the guarantee includes. if they don't and something happens, the cost is probably coming out of your pocket.

look for any past or pending lawsuits.

search to see if they are mentioned in any articles.

ask if they have written any articles on dental implants or invented/patented something.

Re: COST OF DENTAL IMPLANTS?

DH had a mouthful of implants about six years ago and they all failed.  We went to another specialist in another city and had four implants (with more planned) and they failed in less than a year.  All told, forty thousand dollars down the drain.  DH now has dentures.

Re: COST OF DENTAL IMPLANTS?

I have a friend going thru it now.  She is having it done at UB Dental Clinic in Buffalo, N.Y. and they are charging her around half of what dentists charge because it's a teaching clinic.  I believe her estimates were around $8,000 from the clinic and that included sinus lift surgery before implants are done.  This cost was for her upper teeth.

For ONE implant ?  Hmm ...   I think I better get a second opinion on my mouth.

I can’t remember exactly, but I think I got 4 implants. The periodontist did the implants and my regular dentist had the teeth made. I think the teeth cost more than the implants. Think total for everything was around sixteen thousand.

Re: COST OF DENTAL IMPLANTS?

I am in the healing process of an implant right now.  We put the cap on back in April and it was fine until I bit down on food.  So, took the cap off and put the healing cap back on and have been waiting ever since.  I’m convinced it’s a fail and I’m irritated that I ever chose this option.  Long story and I won’t bore you with the details.  $2,800 down the drain and I’m pretty sure I will have the pleasure to pay for a permanent bridge.  I’ll find out next Tuesday. I would never choose this option again.

I love my family, my fur boys, my Jayhawks and accounting!
