Physical and financial pain.

I have 4 and my husband has 5. From start to finish, (extraction - crown) ours have been $7000. Our insurance pays for the extraction and a fraction of the crown.
Be careful when prices are quoted as the cost of an implant may be JUST the actual implant. There are a lot of extras. For instance, the panoramic x-rays are extra.

@Tinkrbl44 My SO was getting one and after 2 procedures to build up the bone, he was told by the specialist he would have had to go to another special specialist at a cost of around $6,000 on top of the $5,000 he already had paid out!!

I'm a fan of implants, though mine have been in so long that I can't recall how much they cost. With all my implants, I only had novocaine. I did not want to be put under. It was certainly uncomfortable for the first couple of days, but Tylenol helped. I never needed to use the heavy duty pain killer that was prescribed.
The only reason why I don't have even more implants is that I needed bone grafting in the affected area. Unfortunately, the grafting did not take.

My insurance pays for the entire crown an exrays. I must pay for the drilling and setting of the pins. I think it cost around $5000 a tooth, before insurance, and that will depend on your insurance policy

They are pricey but so worth it. I have 6 implants, 4 on the top which anchor a fixed bridge and two on the bottom that anchor a removable bridge. I am lucky enough to have dentist that is on the staff of a hospital with a dental clinic.
The implantation and unmasking were done there and everything else was done locally.
I think my total bill for the implants and teen was $25,000, I feel so lucky to have found this dentist
