Yes,looks like a broken blood vessel - sounds worse than it really is.  I've had them break  before, mostly in my fingers, smarts like all get out - then pain goes away - as will your bruise in a few days.  That's my take on it anyway.

I’ve done this when I’ve banged the back of my hand on the walls in my hallway. I’ve done it too many times to count. It goes away in a few days.

I had the same thing happen to me and yes, it did hurt ike the dickens. got a huge bruise and it swelled up. Don't remember how it happened but I iced it and took a pain reliever. It hurt for a few days too. Never went to the dr for it. but if it gets worse then go see a dr.
