Anyone have or had a Baker's cyst behind your knee?  What did you do for it?

My husband has had one for 6 months; the VA isn't worried about it.

It could be a symptom of rheumatoid or osteoarthritis, best have it check by a doctor.

I had one in my knee and it hurt so much but there were lots of other things wrong too.

I had surgery and after a lot of things fixed and the cyst removed and a long recovery, no more pain!

But mine was rather large so other than that I don't have any

knowledge of what they do now.

I guess a good ortho doctor would be best!

I just got over one. I am going to the doctor on Monday, want to get to the bottom of this. I kept off my feet as much as possible and it did go away.

I have them behind both knees .They hurt a lot at night when its cold or temperature drops and then the fluid builds up behind my knees . They are painful . I usually just take an aanalgesic which helps. Sometmes the doctors will drain them but they fill up again . They can burst on their own or leak .,In that case you will get a black and blue mark on the top of your foot , Yeah I don't know why that is either. Something about the fluid leakng down into foot area.They can be removed with surgery but Thats another story .They are very common for those with arthritis.

Cathy,  my Primary Dr. said wait 1 month,  ugh,   and if it's still there go to the Ortho Dr. and probably he will drain it... ONE month,  not sure I want to be in this pain for that long...

@panda1234

My husband is doing well, thank you for asking.   We found out in April he has a slight tear in his meniscus, severe arthritis in the knee, and the cyst.   The VA is treating him by drawing fluid off every 3 months and giving him a cortisone shot.  The cortisone effect wears off into month 2, and he feels some discomfort in the last few weeks before his next shot.   Because of his other health issues there are no surgical options for him.

@RedTop  Sorry he is not able to have the surgery. It sounds like it is pretty much under control and that is a good thing.
