Just curious about whether anyone is taking a stool softener and is happy with it?   I knew someone who took one daily and was happy as a clam with the steady results she got.

Anyone?

@Tinkrbl44 , nope. They don't do anything for me.

Re: Andrew Lessman 'Fibermucil' vs laxative

My gastro doc said stool softeners are safe to take nightly, so for many years I took 2 to 3 every night. but, I suddenly looked at the ingredient deck and was so turned off, all artificial dyes and ink, only one real active ingredient in there. So, I went cold turkey, quit them and switched to taking 500 mg magnesium oxide tablets daily, and have never looked back.

@Tinkrbl44   Personally, I wouldn't do that everyday.  IMO, it trains your body to depend on it.  I'd rather consume foods that help to keep things moving along and keep the plumbing working as it was intended to.

@JeanLouiseFinch , unfortunately that is not possible for everyone.  I was directed by a doctor to take a softener everyday.  Your body does not become dependant on them like they do a laxative.

@Lipstickdiva Thank you for that.  I was probably thinking of "laxatives".  Even so, I would always try a natural option first.  A daily serving of seeds, a good fiber intake, water and electrolytes are doing well for me at the moment.
