@KingstonsMom A friend of mine had her 2nd dose yesterday also. She said she has on about 20 layers of clothing and is under an electric blanket....can't get warm. She has chills and her whole body aches.

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to why some people are having side effects and some aren't. I'm wondering if it has something to do with Rx drugs some may take. I don't take anything.....just an OTC multi-vitamin and OTC Magnesium each day. Maybe that makes a difference???? I don't know.

They did tell us not to take any pain relivers prior to getting the vaccine unless you have a medical condition, and wait at least 4 hours after the vaccine to take anything for pain.

I did psche myself up for not getting sick.....I told myself I didn't have time to get sick. Maybe that helps too, again who knows?

Absolutely!

All of the experts are saying not to become complacent after receiving the vaccine, all current protocols should still be followed.

Welll, one of my fears!! is that people will think--"well, I got the vaccine, now I'm immune and don't have to worry" NO!!! IMO, the best the vaccine will do is lessen the symptons if a person does get it. BTW, we're in our 70s and in no hurry to get the vaccine. I am very good at "social distancing"!!!

I don't know how accurate this is, but my daughter was hearing from some that had the moderna vaccine that there weren't as many side effects as the pfizer, but also that the pfizer was a little higher percentage in protection. I guess that makes sense

because the body is ramping up more of a defense or something.

But still even if side effects are more

they only last about 24 hours so that is really good!

And then there is the variants so who knows-we'll just keep thinking positive!

Personally, I think the biggest factor is each person's immune system and how strong/weak it is.

You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Thanks for the info. I agree, it seems to vary by person. I have Always had a slight to moderate response to vaccines. With the first (Moderna) I had a 3 day sore-ish arm, headache, bit of a funny feeling tummy for 24 hours. NBD.

Hoping the second won’t be much worse!

I had my first Pfizer vaccine on Monday. It is now Wednesday and the only side effect was some soreness in my arm, most pronounced on Monday night. My arm was slightly sore yesterday and is just fine today. I am so grateful that my sister- in- law found a link to a site where I could schedule my appointment. I am 71 and it is hard to get an appointment in California.

My 86 yr old mom,is not in good health at all,she only has a sore arm, today ,the 1st shot she had stomach problems.Pfizer vaciine she got.

I have been told by those who did have side effects that they don't last beyond a day.....a small price to pay for peace of mind.

@kaydee50 I agree with you. And I'm in my 70's too. I just learned the other day that this vaccine does not prevent you from getting the virus like a measles shot. It just lessens the severity of it if you do contract it. So, that tells me we are all going to have to continue what we're doing now whether we get the vaccine or not. I'm in no hurry to get it, if ever.

@walkingal I look at getting the covid vaccine just as I look at getting a flu shot. I am healthy but do I want to get very sick when I don't have to? Too many healthy people have ended up on a respirator or dead due to Covid. By getting my vaccine, I will be reducing the likelihood of dying. I will also be helping my country by increasing herd immunity so we can get back to doing what we love/want to do.
