HELP with WEN formulas please!

Okay.... So far I've used the seasonals and just one  classic.  I LOVE the seasonals.  I get really good results with them.  The classic I tried was the Sweet Almond Mint and my hair didn't like it at all.

With the TSV coming up I'm trying to decide if I should go for it and try a different classic  (give me your faves and why!) or just go individual and try the Spring seasonals OR try something new like the Light or the 619 or 316.

And for those of you who use WEN as your facial cleanser (I've read some on here about using it and it works great for anti aging) what are your recommendations.  Would you recommend the Light or the 316/619 for this?  I like that the new Light one talks about peptides, etc.

Any help you can give a WEN lover is appreciated!

And some back story on me.... I went through breast cancer 8 years ago and my hair has loved NO shampoo since then.  BUT when I found WEN I fell in love! It has made my hair grow and is SO smooth and soft!  Smiley Happy

Re: HELP with WEN formulas please!

I just got the advance March 24th TSV- I highly recommend it. It had a classic CC, styling creme & the light restorative CC+ styling spray. I got Tea Tree- first time I tried it. Liked it- smell isn't the greatest but my hair looked great. I LOVED the new light CC & spray! Really recommend those. As for classics I didn't like SAM either. I like POM & Fig but not the smell of Fig.

If you haven't already go to Chaz Dean's website & there is a place to get recommendations on what formula works best for your hair type.

Re: HELP with WEN formulas please!

Hello!  Glad your hair is loving WEN!  I can't speak to the "Numbers" or Light, Many more learned souls here to help you with those, but my favourite classics are Tea Tree and Fig.

TT  has a medicinal scent which takes some getting used to but I now find it refreshing amongst all the other yummy WEN Scents.  It Cleans my thick rather coarse salt and pepper hair well.  Fig gives my hair body and moisture.  It too seems to have a scent people either love or hate but I like it.  Bamboo Green Tea is another fave.  It leaves my hair almost sleek,  (a neat trick if you ever saw my hair!)  I hope you get lots of advice on the many options of WEN.  Enjoy!

Re: HELP with WEN formulas please!

My go to CC's for year's were Pom and Fig. I recently tried TT and love what it does for my hair. One of the first ingredient's in Fig and TT is glycerin which help if you need moisture. I also use the seasonal's, but have to be careful because they are a little more rich in protein and my hair does not like a lot of protein.

My hair is dry, curly, frizzy, and color-treated. It does not like most of the seasonals because they don't provide enough moisture, but does really well with the Fig.

Fig is my core WEN, but I'm not a bug fan of the scent and I'm fickle and hate sticking to one thing, so I supplement with seasonals and Tea Tree. I also have some Sweet Almond Mint (my favorite scent) that I use for my leave-in. Since the formula doesn't matter much for other things, I use the Remoist, Replenishing Treatment Mist and the oil in Sweet Almond Mint.

Depending on how I feel that day I will:

  • Use Tea Tree on my scalp and Fig my length and ends
  • Use a seasonal followed by Fig
  • Mix Fig and whatever in my hand before applying
  • Use Fig alone
  • Use a Seasonal alone and then use Fig the next wash

Re: HELP with WEN formulas please!

MOFirmer, if your hair loves all the seasonals, then the Classic formula I'd suggest you try is the only one that also uses soy protein, like the seasonals use, and that's Pomegranate,  If your hair didn't like SAM, it might be the wheat protein in it, and Fig, TT, CA and Lavendar all use wheat protein.  I'd say that is the safest bet to try the March TSV bargain deal, odds are you will be okay with Pom, and that will also let you try the Light, which I believe is from the Restorative formulas, and uses rice protein, like Bamboo Green Tea and Mandarin Italian Fig.  The "number" formulas,  613 and 319, are also soy-based, so odds are you will like those, too.  I agree with the poster who recommended going to the WEN website and using the formula recommendation questionnaire for additional info, but the additional info to consider is what kind of protein base is being used in each formula, knowing that your hair already loves the soy in the seasonals.  Best Wishes!

Re: HELP with WEN formulas please!glad

@MOFirmer, I am so glad you and you hair love Wen! Smiley Happy

Sure, TSV is a very good deal and gives you an opportunity to use a few products. You could definately try another core CC that comes with it. These basic staple Wen products are really good, and make a fantastic first cleanse.

I too did not like SAM at all - it make my hair heavy/greasy. Out of remaining 5 core CCs I would recomment for you to start by trying either Pomegranate of Tea Trea. They both are most universal and both cleanse well. POM has nice smell, to me at least it does, and POM Oil has many wonderful benefits, including promoting hair growth.

Tea Trea is an amazing and healing for hair and scalp CC! It's oil is too - both are very good for hair growth and scalp health. Well, it's smells medicinal, but after awhile I really like this medicinal herbs smell.

If I were to choose which one of these two to get - POM or TT, I'd follow this logic  - if TSV would come with 4 oz oil, I'd definately go for Tea Tree, since it's oil is gold. If TSV comes with styling cream, I'd go for POM, because I'd rather put Pomegranate smelling styling cream in my hair than Tea Trea.

After all - POM smells better, and has good healthy oil and styling creme is nice too.

@MOFirmer

I'd be happy to throw in my 2 cents if you could say a bit about your hair type.

Best wishes.

Re: HELP with WEN formulas please!

I agree with @Drythe. It would be easier to recommend a formula if you told us about your hair. Also, you may want to try the product recommender on Chaz's website. While it may not be 100% accurate it should give you an idea as to what might work for your hair type.

I have a lot of fine wavy hair with highlights (no bleach). My hair needs moisture and loves FIG but obviously your hair may have completely different needs depending on your hair type.

Re: HELP with WEN formulas please!

In looking at the program guide, the TSV is on Thursday, 3/23, not Friday, 3/24. First, they dropped TSV Saturday, now it's no even on Friday. What's your problem, QVC?
