@itsmagic thats a hard question to answer because, I think, it depends on the trip you're taking, what you take, etc., as to which size you need. I started with a variety pack, a large, a medium, and a small. I have since ordered another medium set, a small, and thought I would try the slim set. Usually there are 3 bags per set. Won't use all of them for every trip tho but I like having the variety available. I also have a couple of the packing envelopes that someone posted a picture of and I like those also. I have a very large envelope that I've never used and a medium sized one that I use for my blouses and tops. Since I have the medium sized envelope for my blouses/tops, I didn't order another large set of the packing cubes but would if I didn't have it. I hope this helps.

@Alter Egohad no problem at all with color transfer on any of the colors. My bags should arrive tomorrow!

I have used Gallon Bags in my carry on and checked luggage for delicates.
We think alike, who knows where the blue gloved smurf gloves have been? <eww>
I just don't like the idea of strangers pawing through my stuff at all.
World Traveler suggests packing a 13 gallon trash bag, laid over the top of your packed items to be used as a laundry bag during the trip, when you get home the laundry bag is dropped in the laundry room. TA DA!
I am still researching packing cubes. <G>

I have another packing method that works for me on a shorter 2-4 day trip. I actually have a few outfits on hangers and fold into the carry on suitcase. When I get to hotel I can just pull outfit/hanger out of suitcase and hang up in closet. A few hangers and clothespins from home are quite handy and do not take up much room.
I am still debating the packing cube methods, I understand your concerns about them taking up space. What I have been doing seems to work and every inch of the suitcase is utilized. I have an old RED! Swiss rolling bag that is still working for me with net type compartments in the top and three large to small zip pockets on the front. (ORGANIZED!)

@JudyL wrote:@VaBelle35 I have two of these - a large and a medium - and I used the medium one last year when I went to Ireland for my shirts/blouses and liked it. It packs a lot!
I have 2 each of small, medium and large. Small for undergarments, medium for top and large for pants/skirts.
If it's a longer work trip, I will do casual in one set and work in another set and convert some for dirty clothes.
On the last day, I put my plane outfit in one and put it in my laptop bag and then change before I leave for the office.
It's just a really nice way to manager clothing.

@JudyL Thank you for your reply. I watched a YouTube video today of a lady packing 3 of the slim cubes and I was surprised how much she got into each one. She rolled each clothing item before putting it in the slim cube.

@itsmagic in one of the large cubes i can get 2 pair denim & co jeans, 2 pair Issac Mizrahi 24/7 pants & one pair Lands End pants and I am not a small woman so therefore my pants aren't either! LOL I roll them up and still have room for another small/light item if needed.

@itsmagic I like the assorted sizes. I have a large one for pants/shorts. A medium for shirts and tops. Smaller size for underwear. You can fit a LOT of clothes in the bags. I bought mine from Amazon, as there are no stores in my area that carry them. Lots of different brands. I bought eBag brand. If you look them up on Amazon, there is a little video showing the use of the bags. I LOVE buying and using items that help me be organized.

I have not jumped in with both feet yet on packing cubes. I do check them out on Ebags, as they have different sizes (also slim-sized). I did purchase a lone medium-sized one & have used it a couple of times. Packing in a suitcase is all new to be, as DH & I used to only travel with our travel trailor, so we just packed up everything we thought we'd need for our trip in the camper & that was it. Now we sold the trael trailer & are traveling by car & staying at hotels. Didn't even have suitcases. I'm just now learning what's what with packing.

I have never used them, but I think a trip to TJ Maxx is going to be happening today or tomorrow. I leave for Africa in about 10 days. After reading all your comments, I think I have been remiss in not getting some.
